CUD are a British indie rock band formed in Leeds, England in 1986. CUD consisted of Carl Puttnam, Mike Dunphy, William Potter and Steve Goodwin. CUD disbanded in 1995 and reformed in 2006 after the release of their Anthology.
Though an indie rock band, their music incorporated elements of funk and pop. They were critically acclaimed throughout their career, supported the Pixies and recorded many sessions with the late John Peel. Despite several top 40 singles and albums, CUD never really broke through to a mainstream UK record-buying audience and remain as one of the most underrated bands from the British music scene in the last 20 years. Sexy rhythms and memorable sparky lyrics. The music press hated them, the fan’s couldn’t get enough of em!
In 2006, Cud reformed to support the release of a double album of their greatest hits entitled Rich and Strange - The Anthology which was released in August 2006 on Universal Records, alongside a brief UK tour to promote it.
Further shows occurred in 2008 and 2010, however, this tour sees CUD back with original guitarist and songwriter Mike Dumphy for the first time since 1995, they will also be joined by ‘a drummer from CUD’.
In conjunction with this tour a boxset of the band’s Peel Sessions will be released through www.3loopmusic.com
