What people are saying about Hawkwind

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hawkwind - here's to another 50 years. This was going to be an in-depth review but that's not really why people went. Great tracks, epic lightshow, some good Jamming, a chance to hear some new tunes and to sing along to the old. That's why I went and I'm really glad I did. New bass player is really good - he and Richard Chadwick make for a really tight and authentic back line. A bit sad there were no strings from Mr Dibs or Dead Fred but you can't have it all. Dave Brock was (and hopefully always will be) Dave Brock - a genuinely underrated genius. Thanks to the above (and a good crowd) for a great night out. Hopefully I'll see them again soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hawkwind blast off into psychedelic space! Great band and light show / acrobats. Friendly security staff - no trouble at the gig too...Eclectic mix of people - Nordic Brotherhood bikers to my right, lady in pearls and twinset to the left...Some bands transcend peer groups and Hawkwind of certainly one of them. Great venue - hope more bands pick it up!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Hawk Machine Continues! The guys who never fail to entertain us with what can only be described as the best space rock ever to abduct us from reality did not disappoint, I was transfixed and transported from start to finish in the world created by Hawkwind's new adventure. Based on E.M Forster's Sci-Fi classic the set consisted of a journey back in time and into the future, the new saga was laced with Golden Voids & Orgone accumulations and was over far too soon in my opinion. This is my all time favourite band, Excellent adventures & many thanks for years of entertainment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hawkwind Islington Assembly Hall, April 2016. One of the best times I've ever seen Hawkwind. And the Islington Assembly Hall is a great venue to see and hear them as well. The projections were great and the new album and concept, even without the dancers on this occasion!, impressed me a lot. Great that Hawkwind are still creative and relevant. Great to see Dave Brock at the forefront quite a lot singing and playing guitar, especially along with their new bass player, Haz. The whole gig was one big highlight for me. Everyone their seemed to of really enjoyed this gig.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The machine stops Went to see Hawkwind with friends at Glasgow o2 ABC and had a brilliant night ,most of the set featured the new album the machine stops based on EM Forsters iconic novella.Other tracks featured were utopia, the watcher and shot down in the night. My favourite moment was its so easy though it was all excellent and the set raced by.As usual with Hawkwind there was a stunning audio visual show reflecting the machine stops, orgone accumulater was also welcome. So Overall a top Night and Hawkwind still pushing boundaries .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing gig, and at Eastbourne too! Have loved and followed 'wind since the seventies, they never let you down, once that chugging riff kicks in plus the spacetrip synths off we go to another dimension! The new album sounds like a must buy on the strength of the live rendition, and very little old material was required to bolster the set. An additional bonus was that it happened in sleepy old Eastbourne, more rock gigs please! ( Even Bexhill has got this message with the excellent DLWP) Good turnout of Windheads too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Something special from the Days of the proper underground Its a band I grew up with .Have seen over 50 times .and now possibly hitting a new creative peak .Still Counter culture still non conforming and still pushing forwards through space More dangerous than any punk band.New Lps Superb 2and a half hours of pure clinical stripped back Hawkwind .Played to a back projection of all consuming Hypnotic preportions Top gig .No one does it like them and never will Hugley influential and Dibs Derbyshire is the master of the ceremony Top gig x
