What people are saying about Magnum

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Magnum, Still rocking after all these years Since the demise of the Unity Hall in Wakefield which hosted many great bands including Iron Maiden, Saxon, Budgie, The Sweet during the NWOBHM in the late 70's and eighties the city has been crying out for a decent music venue, Warehouse 23 fills that gap with a mixture of Tribute acts, themed nights and original bands like Saxon, FM and Magnum who last night rocked the joint, along with original members Bob Catley and Songwriter/Guitarist Tony Clarkin, Mark Stanway, Al Barrow and Harry James they showed why they are still held in such high esteem by their fans who packed out Warehouse 23 for a "Sacred Blood" tour stop before hitting the European Festivals. Long may they continue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great venue, great band! I have seen Magnum 5-6 times over the years but this was my first trip to see a band at Islington Town Hall. Suffice to say both the band and venue left me with a big smile on my face! I got there in time for the support band, VEGA, and was pleased to see that there was a sizeable audience inside the venue for when they took the stage. And they were rewarded with a very good set from a band who have their 4th studio album out. After a 20-30 minute intermission Magnum took the stage and the near capacity audience then lapped up a few songs from the new album together with a 'greatest hits' set over the next 1hr 30 mins.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Magnum still deliver......and what a bonus in having Vega supporting ! Another great Magnum show - great mix of old and new - with Bob and Tony on good form musically as well - long may they continue to keep classic rock relevant. Biggest surprise for me was the support band - Vega. How this wonderfully melodic rock band has past me by these 5-6 years is a mystery. A proper classic rock band, who enjoy what they do, and have wall-to-wall tunes and anthems other bands would die for. Check out the albums - these guys need your support as much as Magnum did in the dark times! Long live classic rock!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An insperational Birmingham band! My first Magnum gig was way back in 1985. How so much water has flown under the bridge. Tony Clarkin has written so much great music with Magnum. It's sad that a band this good and prolific have never had mainstream success. The plus side to this is, as a fan, you feel exclusive in knowing and enjoying this exceptional experience. This could be one of the last Magnum tours. Go see them. You will be amazed by this lovable legends!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An amazing band - great venue! I saw Magnum first in the early 80s and they just keep on producing the most amazing albums. I must say that the Islington Assembly Hall beats the Shepherd's Bush Empire in terms of acoustics! The sound was great and the band, who must have been exhausted after a long tour, gave a great performance. Well done Magnum. A real thrill to see them.
