Rated 5 out of 5 by Susiesharp from Martha...melancholy fun Martha was so lovely and full of life, I have seen her twice before and she has become a flamboyant princess of melancholy! Beautiful new songs and old sad ones...as always she wears her heart firmly on her sleeve yet it never feels indulgent, just heart breakingly real! The duet brought me to tears but we also laughed and relished being in Martha's crazy and lovely world. Thank you. Great outfit too!! Shorts and hockey socks very brave in Sheffield!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Woodstock from I Don't Get Out Much... ...but I'm glad I did on this occasion. Martha sings from the heart, and is a worthy addition to the long list of great Canadian vocalists. Backing musicians were excellent, largely consisting of the able support band Bernice.

Rated 3 out of 5 by neilw84 from Powerful, passionate performance With 19 songs, the audience certainly got value for money, but it was so disappointing that the audience was so small. Martha performed, as a true professional always does, with energy, engagement and humour - for example, when she was out of tune for one number and her guitar for another, and had to re-start both - but it was hard for her to create any real atmosphere. Most songs were from her latest album, which has been out since last November but seemed unfamiliar to the audience, and it was her older songs which gained a warmer reception, such as Factory and When the Day Is Short. Martha has a powerful and richly varied voice and is an engaging performer; she deserves to be heard by many more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Ostrich from A fantastic performance from Martha I went with a friend for our first visit to the Tramshed both to experience the venue and to hear Martha. There was a lot of waiting involved, first to find that the cafe was not functioning for food, then and hour once in the venue and then half an hour after Bernice, the support act. A storming performance by Martha rescued our evening but next time I will arrive later!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Corwen Boy from Excellent gig -eventually! First time at the Tramshed. Great venue, good seating. But why say 730 when nothing happened for an hour ? Everybody was installed by 8 and waiting. Support act -Betsy- was not good despite being Martha's backing band. Lead singer had a great voice but the choice of songs was just plain odd and not in a good way. All became worthwhile when Martha came on. Just excellent. Huge range of material sung with personality and pizzaz and top notch backing. Also such a pleasure to find a gig where the sound level was spot on and not drowned in excessive volume and too much bass. Left feeling happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Suegra from Martha- what a great night at Tramshed Cardiff! Support by Bernice was 'interesting'. From the first Martha vocal we were captivated. Such a strong voice and her versatility was surprising. From delicate vocal to rock guitar we were impressed. 1 hour 40 minute set was more than we expected, and we would have love d more. Between songs Martha's chit chat was reminiscent of Rufus; humour and sensitivity! It was a great night.
