What people are saying about Stewart Lee

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stewart Lee is brilliant! First saw Stewart Lee on BBC iplayer and found him to be hilarious and brilliant. This show was also hilarious and brilliant. Thanks Stewart for coming to Bristol and performing in a tent - perhaps you'll get a venue with solid walls next time!?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Genius comedian but event not perfect The comedy garden is a great idea. However, this year things were not quite right. For starters the organisers clearly went for profit over quality. The tent was too large for how the sitting was laid out. Previously the tent was smaller and the back seats were elevated. This made it a better experience. Stewart Lee, and the other comedians, were great but I do feel I paid a lot given that Stewart Lee's set was shorter than I was expecting and because the seating was so bad. I will think twice about going next year.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dreadful!! I bought 4 tickets for the opening night of the Comedy Garden, an event we were really looking forward to, but unfortunately the compère, 2nd and 3rd act (Stewart Lee) were awful and not funny at all! Both Stewart and the 2nd act were unprepared, referring to their notes the whole way through, making it painful and awkward to watch. Although we enjoy topical humour, at times the compère's routine felt more like a political rally preferably excluding anyone of the age of 40!! Unfortunately for her we are all over 40 (as were a large part of the audience), but again she seemed unprepared and very amateurish. I have never been to a comedy show and not found myself laughing at all, except for the first act who was funny, it was unbelievable how little comedy there was on what should have been a hilarious evening of fun. I was embarrassed and apologetic to the other people I had invited and bought tickets for and this is something we would think twice about booking again. Such a shame.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comedy triple Thought this was a strong bill, enjoyed all the comedians and thought Stewart Lee was great as usual- have not seen James Acaster before but thought he was excellent and enjoyed randomness of Tony Law- I hope he's okay.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A comedy evening hijacked by for political purposes Stewart Lee and his supporting acts were excellent. Sadly the show was marred by Josie Long who opted to set aside humour in favour of pushing her minority political views. That's neither what we expected or wanted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent night. Just want was needed in troubled times! Life is so rubbish at the moment. Being reminded that you can laugh at the world & the idiots that claim to run it is such a relief. All the performers we superb. Great booking giving a range of comedy. Thanks.
