The Heartbreaks are a British Indie rock band formed in Morecambe, Lancashire in 2009. The band consists of Matthew Whitehouse (vocals, rhythm guitar), Joseph Kondras (drums), Ryan Wallace (lead guitar, backing vocals) and Chris 'Deaks' Deakin (bass guitar, backing vocals). A recent description of the band's sound said: "Bolt-from-the-blue mélanges of Motown's pop purity, coy vocals and innocent romanticism give The Heartbreaks a charm matched by strong musicianship and a supremely wry take on Punk rock songcraft. Jaded sarcasm, arcane language and rarefied romantic longing compete over stomping Wigan Casino drums, Jangle pop guitars and walls of feedback to create a sound that is part 60's girl band and C86". The band was formed in the Lancashire resort town of Morecambe, England in 2009. Despite the resort gaining the dubious distinction of being placed third in the October 2003 book Crap Towns: The 50 Worst Places to Live in the UK, the band have been described as "fanatical experts on the British seaside".
