Returning to London for the first time in 30 years, Boston Ballet presents two dynamic programmes reflecting a century of groundbreaking choreography.
Boston Ballet - Programme 1
Mikko Nissinen
Visiting Company
"[Boston Ballet's] dancers are striking by national and international standards" The New York Times
Programme 1, rich in innovation, features Vaslav Nijinsky's Afternoon of a Faun, George Balanchine's Serenade and Symphony in Three Movements and resident choreographer Jorma Elo's Plan to B. Danced to the music of Tchaikovsky, Debussy, Biber and Stravinsky played by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Boston Ballet, under the leadership of Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen, showcase technical brilliance and perfect virtuosity at its very best.
Boston Ballet - Programme 2
Mikko Nissinen
Visiting Company
"Nothing less than brilliant" The Boston Globe
Programme 2 features three extraordinary and visionary works, Christopher Wheeldon's physically complex Polyphonia where the dancers showcase their playful athleticism with stripped down ballet in its purest form, Jir Kylin's emotional and beautiful masterpiece Bella Figura. Finally, William Forsythe's The Second Detail, set to a robust score by Thom Willems, a potent piece of kinetic energy that never fails to leave a lasting impression.
