Bravado - Tribute To Rush
20-22 Mount Pleasant, Bilston, Wolverhampton, Wolverhampton, WV14 7LJ
Approx. capacity: 700
The Robin 2 in Bilston is an excellent live music venue with a capacity of 700, and draws appreciative crowds to see some unexpected big names, local bands and tribute acts. At the front of the club, Noddy's Bar - named after the Slade frontman - is an excellent place to meet for a drink before the gig. The Robin provides a refreshing alternative for those who like to listen to good live music at a reasonable price. The Robin 2 is unique in the fact that it is also a hotel. The Robin 2 hotel has been inundated with bookings since it's opening in May 2008. The 500,000 pounds hotel is aimed at giving concert-goers the chance to enjoy a drink and have a bed nearby for convenience. The old building next to the Mount Pleasant music venue was gutted and transformed into the new attraction as part of a 12 week renovation project. The hotel was built during celebrations to mark the 10th anniversary of the music venue. Each of the eight sound-proofed rooms are fitted out with en-suite bathroom, tea and coffee machines and digital televisions.

Bravado - Tribute to Rush (HH)
On stage 8.30pm
South Yorkshire-based Bravado formed in October 2004 when three friends with a century of performing experience began rehearsing Rush songs for pleasure, and began gigging in February 2005 when others demanded to hear the results.
Dean Cousins: drums, percussion - professional session player and drum teacher.
Paul Pierce: guitars - full-time guitar teacher and player.
Pod: vocals, bass, synthesisers, pedals - actually a guitarist & singer, but switched over for this project out of love for Rush's music, a passion we all share equally.
Our aim is to combine an exciting performance with a sound as faithful to the record as we can create. It is not sufficient to simply reproduce Rush's music for an audience, although that is clearly a challenge and an achievement in itself. The number of audience members previously unfamiliar with the music who have subsequently bought albums and become fans is a real lift for us.
We perform as a man-for-man three piece rock band. If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for us..
We perform entirely live, and don't use sequencers or backing tapes of any kind. This limits the material we can cover to a degree, as there are many beautiful tunes that even Geddy doesn't have enough limbs to play, but still leaves us with a glorious canon covering some 9 or 10 albums, and we like to include pieces which Rush themselves will no longer play, alongside eternal favourites.
Our current set runs for a little over 2 hours, with encores as required, featuring material from Moving Pictures, Hemisperes, 2112, Permanent Waves, the latest album Snakes And Arrows, and many others.
Some audience comments
" Absolutely top notch!! I've seen several Rush tribs around the country over the past few years; you guys take first prize… no stone was left unturned, the attention to detail was incredible. It is clearly a labour of love, carrying that amount of gear, roadies (what's them then?) and the amount of rehearsals that must have taken place to reach that standard." D.N., Scunthorpe
"Bravado were FANTASTIC last night.. A LOT of dedicated RUSH fans in there last night & they were loving it..!!! Well done guys… Hope to see you guys in Scunny soon..! Xxx! M.O., Scunthorpe
"You nailed it. What a great set. The music - the excitement - the sound - the show. I was blown away." J.W., Sheffield
"Absolutely splendid night from where I was stood" A.M., Doncaster
"Storming final gig of 2006… thanks for giving us something to look forward to " R.P., Maltby
"Bloody brilliant show, as per usual and a fecking top night out!" R.G., Notts
"Bravado put on a fantastic show… this band puts on a realistic tribute to Rush and deserve a much bigger audience." T.B., TNMS
