Faikytes Live: China Crisis
Fairkytes Arts Centre, Hornchurch.
We welcome one of the fondest remembered bands of the 80s to the Fairkytes Live stage.
Formed on Merseyside in 1979, China Crisis were among a wave of new Liverpool acts that emerged in the late 70s and early 80s, led by the likes of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Echo and the Bunnymen, the Teardrop Explodes, A Flock of Seagulls and Frankie Goes to Hollywood.
Playing melodic pop music with a new wave edge, the band (led by core members vocalist/keyboardist Gary Daly and guitarist Eddie Lundon) had five top 40 singles including Wishful Thinking, Black Man Ray and King in a Catholic Style (Wake Up). They had three top 40 albums and also enjoyed widespread commercial success in Western Europe and Australia.
Since the late 1990s, Lundon and Daly have concentrated on live performances with a variety of musicians, finally returning to the studio to release Autumn in the Neighbourhood in July 2015, their first LP for 21 years.
