The extraordinarily talented Nels Andrews returns to the UK, this time teaming up with his old buddy AJ Roach, who now lives in Scotland. These two go back a long way and together produced the hilarious Cursing Kerouac video blog. We guarantee an evening of absolute delights from two of the finest singer/songwriters of their generation.

Nels Andrews has spent the last decade wandering, gathering songs and singing them all over the globe, sharing them around campfires, coffees hops, clubs , festivals, and living room floors. His first two albums, ‘Sunday Shoes’ and ‘Off Track Betting’, received critical acclaim, national airplay and made folk and roots record charts across the USA and Europe.

Nels has just released his third studio album ‘Scrimshaw’, joining up once again with acclaimed producer Todd Sickafoose (Anais Mitchell, Ani Difranco, Andrew Bird, Yoko Ono). The record was recorded overlooking the Naval Yards in Red Hook Brooklyn, and tells stories culled from a time off the road, working as a chauffeur in Manhattan and watching his infant son grow into a toddler in his Brooklyn apartment. It is a work of unquestioned genius.

Nels has shared stages across the US and Europe with the likes of Ramblin’ Jack Elliot, Dick Gaughan, Slaid Cleaves, and The Tallest Man on Earth , and twice on the main stage at Holland's TakeRoot festival, The Big Big Country festival in Glasgow, Scotland, and The Orange/Vodaphone Evolution festival in Newcastle, England.

‘One of The Best Albums of the year’ - Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2

‘Nels Andrews is that much sought-after treasure in music. He’s the real deal - A wonderful and delicate work of art’ - Maverick UK ****

‘The audience hang on his every word, recognizing that they’re in the presence of someone special, and he could have played encores forever’ - Americana UK Live Review, The Maze, Nottingham

Originally from Virginia, but now resident in Scotland, A. J. Roach's writing blurs the line between indie and traditional folk, and he has drawn comparisons in the press to Will Oldham, David Eugene Edwards and Vic Chesnutt. He is considered a troubadour in the tradition of Townes Van Zandt, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen. A powerful and moving live performer, AJ's dry and cutting wit has made the stories he sometimes tells between songs almost as celebrated as the songs themselves.
