The Gunton Festival of Food & Music Saturday 5 August 2017
“Certainly it's worth waiting for – the Gunton Arms is there to feed you. It's the kind of place where, having eaten, you crave a lie-down…… I want to go back to the Gunton Arms. I want to go back soon” – Jay Rayner , The Guardian
We are delighted to announce the first ever Gunton Festival of Food & Music which launches on Saturday 5 August 2017. The festival is a glorious celebration of The Gunton Arms holy trinity – Food, music and drink! Internationally renowned sibling trio Kitty, Daisy & Lewis will headline the music stage and Head Chef Stuart Tattersall will oversee a delicious feast of trademark Gunton Arms delights.
Described by The Independent as a “Rock & Roll Hunting Lodge” The Gunton Arms is situated in the beautiful thousand acre deer park which surrounds Gunton Hall near Cromer in North Norfolk. Stuart Tattersall (Former Head Chef at Mark Hix) cooks from local ingredients including venison from the deer park.
Kitty, Daisy & Lewis are from North London and play an eclectic mix of R'n'B , Blues, Soul, Country, Jazz and Ska. Kitty Durham, Lewis Durham, and Daisy Durham played their first shows at a Sunday afternoon club hosted by Norwich country hero Big Steve Arelene in Camden in 2002. The band became a full scale family affair when mum, Ingrid, and dad, Graeme, joined and the five piece went onto international stardom touring the world many times and selling in excess of a quarter of a million albums.
KDL have a big East Anglian fan base, previously headlining Red Rooster Festival in Suffolk and selling out shows at The Norwich Arts Centre and The Banafana Social Club. Celebrity fans include Mick Jones from The Clash who produced their last album The Third plus Dustin Hoffman, David Lynch, Amy Winehouse and Chris Martin from Coldplay.
We’ll announce the full bill leading up to the festival but can reveal the DJ for the day will be Norwich hero, BBC 6 Music star and John Peel archivist DJ78 and joining KDL on the live music stage will be Norfolk country folk legends The Vagaband.
The Gunton Festival of Food & Music is a ONE DAY festival held in the grounds of the deer park adjacent to the lodge. The bands will play in a 500 capacity big top with bars and stalls selling jerk chicken, spiced lamb pittas, vegetarian dishes and of course the classic Gunton venison burgers and hotdogs.
