O2 Academy Brixton has long been hailed London's flagship venue, a must-play for artists and must-visit for music lovers. It has scooped the NME "Best Venue" award on an incredible twelve occasions between 1994 and 2007, proving its popularity with fans and the media alike and in 2009, received the Music Week 'Venue Of The Year' Award.
With a capacity of almost 5,000, it is truly one of a kind on the circuit and combines the feeling of an electrifying arena sized atmosphere, with great views because of its sloping floor and incredible capabilities for production. Anyone who has waited for their favourite band to walk on stage at the South London venue will testify to its unbeatable atmosphere. Its magnificent art deco interior has been preserved and it houses Europe's largest fixed stage, framed by an elaborate proscenium arch, based on the design of the Rialto Bridge.
Venue Rules

- Venue requests no bags allowed into the venue
- The venue reserves the right to change the bill without prior notification.
- Ticket holders consent to any filming and sound recordings as members of the audience
- Ticket holders may be subject to continuous sound levels which may cause potential damage to hearing
- Ticket holders may be exposed to strobe lights
- Only official merchandise is on sale inside the venue, do not buy outside. This is for your protection so that you will receive goods of proven quality.
- No 'professional' type cameras, video cameras or sound recording equipment will be allowed in the venue.
- Venue advises that tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
- Venue advises only customers in possession of a valid ticket will be admitted into the venue. Lost, stolen or misplaced tickets will not be replaced.
- No re-admission policy is strictly enforced
- No bottles, cans, alcohol or food is to be brought into the venue
- No illegal substances may be brought into or taken on the premises. Any one caught in possession of such substances will be ejected form the premises and may be reported to the Police
- Any ticket holder throwing drink & objects (beer, glasses etc) will be removed from the building and no refund given. Furthermore, customer details will be provided to the regulatory authorities should an offence be alleged to have taken place.
- The venue management accepts no responsibility for acts of willful endangerment, or injuries caused thereby to yourself or other patrons whilst on the premises.
- No weapons. The management reserve the right to define & confiscate
- No ticket monies, booking fees etc will be refunded following ejection or refused entry.
- No smoking anywhere within the venue complex - at it's discretion the venue management will allow smokers out of the venue.

PLEASE NOTE: Drinking on the street is controlled in the Borough of Lambeth, any customer found in possession of alcohol will be refused entry to the venue and possibly detained for police action. The Anti-social Behaviour Unit is based on Stockwell Road next to the venue!!
This is a Challenge 21 venue. If you are lucky enough to look under 21 you will be asked to prove that you are over 18 when you buy alcohol.
If you are under 18 you are committing an offence if you attempt to buy alcohol.
The Venue adopts a neighbour friendly policy so please make as little noise as possible on leaving the venue.

Letters of Authorisation are NOT accepted when collecting tickets.
The card holder must be present and show the card as proof of purchase.
For events with no age limit, under 14's must be accompanied by an adult and
seated in the circle.
Under 21's require I.D. to purchase alcohol.
Circle Unreserved Seat/Standing - there is no guarantee of a unreserved seat
- the circle capacity includes standing space so unreserved seats are first
come first served - if you require an unreserved seat you are advised to be
in the queue for entry at Doors Open time.

By Tube
Brixton - Victoria Line . Exit Station - turn right onto Brixton Road - under railway bridge - 200 metres - turn left into Stockwell Road. Please note Victoria line closes at 2200hrs Monday to Friday until December 2008 - check tfl website www.tfl.gov.uk
Stockwell - Northern line (& Victoria line) - when Brixton is closed - is about 1000 metres from the venue - exit tube & straight ahead down Stockwell Road.
By Train
Brixton mainline station is on Atlantic Road off Brixton Road. Trains run direct from Victoria onward to South East London - Herne Hill, Penge East - to Beckenham Junction & Kent - Bromley South & Orpington.
The Academy is also about 1000 metres walk from Loughborough Junction.
By Car
You are advised not to travel by car - street parking is very limited . Please use public transport.
By Taxi
There are numerous minicab offices around Brixton - including Academy Cars - at 205A Stockwell Road - next to the venue - & Supreme Cars at 63 Stockwell Road & Brixton Cars at 270 Brixton Road, both a short walk from the venue.
By Bus
The following buses run past the venue on Stockwell Road - there are bus stops adjacent to the venue - 2, N2, 196, 322, 333, & 345 (24hrs)
The following buses run on Brixton Road - alight at the stops adjacent to Stockwell Road - 100 metres from the venue - 3, N3, 59, 133, N133, 159, N159, 415.
The following buses run on Gresham Road - alight at Gresham Road/Brixton Road Junction - 100 metres from venue - P4, 35, N35, & 45.

Accessibility
Step-free information
There is ramp access into the venue via the left hand set of front doors which also leads to the Box Office. The ramp is removable and put in place when needed by security. Please be aware due to the steps and pavement width the ramp is has a steep gradient. Security are on hand to assist on entry and exit. After entering the venue the accessible platform is on one level.

General Access Info
O2 Academy Brixton accessible platform is located on the left hand side of the stalls area. The platform can accommodate up to approximately 6 access ticket holders and their companions.
The main floor of the auditorium slopes away below the platform providing a good view over the crowd to the stage (25m approximately).
There is an accessible toilet close to the accessible platform in the Ra Bar, located just outside the auditorium. The accessible toilet is radar key compatible or security / box office staff can provide access on request.
