The Tony Head Experience are a grungy indie pop band from Street in Somerset, who originally existed between 1991-1994 and are best known for their 'Debbie One' single which was an indie club and radio hit throughout the world. The single was also played a number of times on Radio 1 by John Peel and Annie Nightingale, and picked up favourable reviews in the the music press of the day - the band widely described as a mix of Pixies dynamics and Blondie melodies - with Elisa Thompson's vocals sweetly driving the songs forward.
The band released a number of singles and flex-discs during their original time together, toured the UK relentlessly (and Germany) and finally split in 1994. Now they are back with their first show in 20 YEARS, a new single and their long-awaited debut album.
'Like Nirvana fronted by a tired and emotional Chrissie Hynde, this is the sort of sound some of us expected from the last PJ Harvey album - with tunes.' NME (1993)
' A confection of distorted, irresistible, new wave indie rock from the awfully titled but marvellous Tony Head Experience.' Melody Maker (1994)
