TRIBUTE TO MEMPHIS SLIM
Eel Pie Club, Twickenham.
This unique-in-the-world tribute to one of the blues giants has already been performed at the Royal Albert Hall and The Boisdale, Canary Wharf, and Peter Chatman, the son of Memphis Slim, is enthusiastic about the project.
The band features top blues musicians, including Eric Ranzoni who has been playing keyboards with Mud Morganfield, the son of Muddy Watrers, for 8 years; Pete Pritchard on bass who has played with, among others, Chuck Berry, Eric Clapton, Jerry Lee Lewis, Alvin Lee and Elvis original guitarist, Scotty Moore. On guitar is Mal Barclay of The Cadillac Kings, and on drums, George Hart.
This tribute was inspired by Eric Ranzoni's meetingin Paris with drummer Michel Denis and pianist Jean-Paul Amouroux who both played with Memphis Slim during his French years later in his life.
