5. Mura Masa
Electronic music producer and songwriter Mura Masa has seen a rise to recognition over the past few years, and 2016 looks to be a big one indeed having already been chosen as one of Apple Music’s new artists for 2016 and shortlisted at joint number 5 on the BBC Sound of 2016 list. His single ‘Love For That’ was Annie Mac’s Hottest Record in the World on BBC Radio 1 back in October too – there’s a lot of love going around for Mura Masa, so make sure you catch him on tour on his way up to the top.

4. Blossoms
Blossoms are all over the place at the moment, and have been deservedly ranked at number 4 on the BBC Sound of 2016 list. They’ve been around the world and back again in the past year playing SXSW festival in the US, visiting Tokyo, Japan in April and enjoying the UK festival season with appearances at the likes of T in the Park and Reading & Leeds Festival. They’re on tour next month so make sure you catch them before they jet off across the globe once more.

3. Nao
Finishing above her collaborator Mura Masa, Nao has had an equally busy year with some outstanding achievements. She tackled the mighty Glastonbury Festival in June 2015, was a nominee for best newcomer at the MOBO Awards and featured as a vocalist and writer on Disclosure's UK number 1 album, also supporting them on tour. She’s one to watch in the new year, so grab tickets for her UK tour this April!

2. Alessia Cara
Coming in at number two is 19 year-old singer/songwriter Alessia Cara who’s debut album ‘Know-It-All’ came out this year. The first single from the album ‘Here’ grabbed the attention of the press worldwide, with publications such as Spin, Cosmopolitan, Complex, Billboard and Rolling Stone championing it as a must hear pop song for 2015. It’s been a great week for Alessia, grabbing her silver medal in the Sound of 2016 and revealing tour dates for the UK later this year.

1. Jack Garratt
And the winner is… Jack Garratt! He’s had an amazing year in 2015, being tipped as one of Apple Music’s new artists for 2016, winning a Brit Award, supporting Mumford and Sons on tour and selling out a show at the O2 Academy Brixton – all this within the past 365 days. And now he’s won the prestigious BBC Music’s Sound of 2016 poll. It’s been a mad one, but we’re looking forward to what Jack’s got up his sleeve for us next. Congratulations!
