Kew The Music 2017

The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew is delighted to announce that they have confirmed Passenger,
Haçienda Classiçal and James for their much celebrated Kew the Music summer concerts.

Kew the Music is a glorious week-long festival of summer picnic concerts set within the stunning
grounds of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Returning once again with a fantastic line up that
offers something for everyone - whether you fancy being whisked back to the heyday of the
notorious Haçienda, or would love the chance to hear the recent hits from Passenger performed
live - book your tickets early to avoid disappointment, and look forward to a night in the most
magical setting in London. Guests are welcome to bring their own food and drink, or to enjoy the
open-air bars and tasty street food stalls. A sensational summers evening awaits.

Passenger - Tuesday 11 July

His 2012 hit single Let Her Go reached a staggering one billion You Tube views and launched UK based singer songwriter Mike Rosenberg (aka Passenger) as a global phenomenon. This year']s Kew the Music opens with a new departure for Rosenberg, for this concert he will perform not as a solo troubadour, but backed by a five-piece band showcasing songs from his latest album as well as breathing new life into many Passenger cult classics.

Haçienda Classiçal - Friday 14 July

Having sold out two dates at the Royal Albert Hall, Haçienda Classiçal returns to London for its
third ever concert with the new set updated for 2017 as the DJ's who shaped The Haçienda's
sound, Mike Pickering and Graeme Park perform with Manchester Camerata orchestra for a night
of iconic dance music and club anthems played by a full orchestra.

James - Saturday 15 July
One of the most influential British indie bands, propelled from the musical tinderbox of early 80s
Manchester and the 'Madchester' movement of the 90s into an enduring global career spanning
over 30 years with hit after hit including Sit Down, She's A Star, Laid, and Getting Away With It and
over 20 UK Top 40 singles and selling millions of albums worldwide. On top at the midway stage
of the chart week, their latest studio album Girl at the End of the World recently came close to
knocking Adele's 25 off the prized number 1 spot of the UK album chart.

Following its overwhelming sell-out success in 2016, Jesus Christ Superstar is back! See it, or see it again, in its original home at Regent’s Park. Directed by Timothy Sheader (Artistic Diector of Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre) with choreography from Olivier Award-winner, Drew McOnie. It received great critical acclaim with Timeout giving it ★★★★ saying “Sheader caps a fine season with an excellent production”.

New York, New York, it's a helluva town! With an incredible Bernstein score, Olivier Award-winner Drew McOnie - celebrated for his choreography on Jesus Christ Superstar - directs and choreographs On The Town, our biggest dance musical yet.

See the BBC Sound of 2017 Top 3 on tour!

The BBC Music Sound of 2017 poll winner has been revealed, and this year soulful R&B artist Ray BLK has taken the top prize over the 15-strong longlist of acts.

Already dubbed “the Lauryn Hill of the UK” and nominated for best newcomer at this year’s MOBO Awards, Ray BLK was crowned this year's first place ahead of Rag'N'Bone Man, who came in second place, and 18-year-old RAYE in third.

The Pretenders

Due to immense demand for their sold out Royal Albert Hall show on April 10 2017, the Pretenders are pleased to announce a full UK tour for Autumn 2017 which will see the band play 14 shows across the country in support of their new album 'Alone'.

'Alone' is the first Pretenders album for eight years and Chrissie Hynde recorded the album in Nashville with Dan Auerbach, from The Black Keys, who stood as captain, producer and multi-instrumentalist on the record, an album which sees Chrissie at her searingly honest, most incisive best.

Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel

Alfie Boe and Katherine Jenkins will star for the first time together in the West End as Billy Bigelow and Julie Jordan in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel.

Fifteen years after getting caught up in an armed robbery and taking his own life, the charming carousel barker Billy Bigelow gets a chance to return to earth and make amends. Discovering that his daughter Louise has grown into a lonely, troubled teenager, haunted by her father’s legacy, Billy vows to restore pride to his family in the musical voted by Time as the greatest of the 20th Century.

With much-loved classic songs ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, ‘If I Loved You’, ‘Mister Snow’ and ‘June is Bustin Out All Over’, Carousel promises to delight and uplift.

Lonny Price (Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Sunset Boulevard) returns to the London Coliseum to direct a strictly limited run of 41 performances of this wonderful semi-staged production.
