INFORMATION ABOUT THIS EVENT
DAVID ESSEX O.B.E
David has enjoyed a remarkable career embracing film, theatre and music.
Since his first international number one 'Rock On' in 1973 he has written and recorded no less than twenty three top thirty hits in the U.K. alone and sold over 40 million records worldwide.
He has made over 5000 concert appearances and appeared successfully in 2 television series.
Film credits include That'll Be The Day, Stardust, Silver Dream Racer (for which he also wrote the score) and Shogun Mayeda.
Theatre credits include Jesus in the original West End Production of Godspell, Che in the original West End production of Evita, Fletcher Christian in the musical Mutiny which he co wrote and which ran succesfully for eighteen months in London's West End.
He spent a year touring and playing in the West End with Sir Peter Hall's Theatre Company in 'She Stoops To Conquer'.
David enjoyed working on a ballet score (a version of 'Beauty and the Beast' with book by David Wood) for the Russian All Stars Company, an international ice skating ensemble, which was staged in 1995/1996.
The premiere took place at the Royal Albert Hall where David, as composer, took his bow at the end of the performance, a red carpet was rolled onto the ice and Michael Aspel walked on the 'arrest' for 'This Is Your Life!'
1999 began in great style - David was awarded an OBE in recognition of his services to charity, especially to VSO.
His investiture took place in February at Buckingham Palace and the OBE was presented by the Queen.
His autobiography - A Charmed Life - released in 2002, published by Orion Books was one of the most successful autobiographies of the year.
In 2004 he starred in the new musical 'Boogie Nights 2' which opened in Bromley in August 2004 and performed to packed houses around the country.
David played St. Peter and it was set in the 80's.
In 2006 he starred in the hit West End Musical Footloose.
Breaking all box office records for the show.
This was followed by another musical in 2007 when David was asked personally by Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber to play the part of George in the new production of Aspects Of Love which he stayed in until March 2008.
Which brings us to the 'All The Fun Of The Fair' Musical, which toured the UK from Sept 08 until May 09 playing to record breaking audiences.
David worked on this project for a few years.
It contained many of David's hits and was inspired by his track 'All The Fun Of The Fair'.
The Director was Nikolai Foster who was also the Director for Aspects Of Love.
David is now undertaking a tour of the UK commencing in Norwich on the 12th Oct, ending in Bournemouth on the 29th November.
