Christopher, fifteen years old, stands beside Mrs Shears' dead dog. It has been speared with a garden fork, it is seven minutes after midnight and Christopher is under suspicion. He records each fact in the book he is writing to solve the mystery of who murdered Wellington. He has an extraordinary brain, exceptional at maths while ill equipped to interpret everyday life. He has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road, he detests being touched and he distrusts strangers. But his detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a frightening journey that upturns his world. Mark Haddon's The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time was originally published in 2003. It was the winner of more than seventeen literary awards, including prizes in Japan, Holland and Italy as well as the Whitbread Book of the Year Award in the UK in 2004.

What people are saying about The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Curious Incident of the Dog In The Night Time Review The show was all round a fantastic event that both me and my daughter enjoyed lots. Although i have not read the book, i found it very entertaining, gripping and exciting. My daughter, on the other hand, has read the book and equally enjoyed it. The story was portrayed amazingly with use of special effects, costumes and cast. I was completely enthralled throughout the whole performance and felt that it wasn't too long nor short. It is definitely a great event for the whole family.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from New Yorkers in London The theatre was more intimate than the the typical NY Broadway ones, but unfortunately my sis foot two husband sat with his knees in his neck. Otherwise the creativity of the stage designers and choreographers carried the show. The actors were very energetic and kept the play moving. If you haven't read the book you may be taken aback by the story. The underlying premise is not at all light, although there are many moments of humor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Enjoyable night out I've seen the ads to the play many times, especially at tube stations and have heard good words from people I know who have seen it. And I wasn't disappointed at all. It maybe didn't tug my emotions as much as the book, but it was still an enjoyable night.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Production I took my daughter and son to see this (15 and 11). We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Having read the book we knew the story but thought the adaptation, production and special effects really made it come alive.
