What people are saying about A Blaze Of Feather

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow! Moving and awe inspiring! A unique collection of talent creating something that can only be described as experimental and brilliant. The visuals projected on the walls and ceilings (Mickey's own cinematography) gave the gig a very intimate and unique edge. The music and imagery was a collective expression of the whole band and their unbelievable talent. The only thing I would have possibly done differently would be the lighting was a bit dark on stage... but clearly this was to allow for the projections on the walls. Would have liked to have been able to see more of the band themselves. Loved Mickey's feet though! Some of the crowd were a bit ignorant talking throughout the gig, which was a shame in such an intimate setting. But overall a massive fan! India's Tender Central were also brilliant. Would love to see more of them too. Massive fan of Ben, but loving Mickey's rustic tones. All round awesome!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Night of perfection! Amazing atmospheric music from A Blaze of Feather. Great to see them at an intimate venue with a chilled and friendly vibe. And lucky enough to chat with Mickey Smith and Ben Howard after the gig. Perfect night. Couldn't have been better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An epic live track to the love, loss and lessons that obviously fuel this bands intense passion I turned up ready to receive greatness but had deliberately not listened to anything online. I'd imagined a powerful and captivating array of music - deliberately composed to stir and unsettle my emotions but actually it was even deeper than that. A paralysing majesty enveloped the crowd from the first rythem that Nat and Mick laid down. They played their guitars effortlessly as if a primal extension of their body's. A sharp atmosphere formed immediately as songs were sung of stories that were sometimes cutting and sometimes healing and often backed with the purest and most dramatic harmonies. Frontman Micky made sure he connected with us all through a level of sincerity and humbleness that few front men harness and I was gripped by the melodies that transported me through the journey's I've never been on but now feel every sense of sentiment towards. The obvious love shared between the band members adds fuel to a fire that drives an unimaginable depth to every chord struck and every beat on the drum, and the light show and projections bound the intensity to ensure we all remained hypnotised by the splendor that was A Balze Of Feather. I was really overwhelmed with pride for the band who obviously feel deeply connected to this music and I'm totally stoked for them. They deserve all the glory and satisfaction they seek from the artistry they have been kind enough to empart on me. Great show Pards! Yeeeew!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An exquisite set! I took my 15yr old daughter as our first 'joint' gig & was blown away by the evening. Both Blaze of Feather AND Tender Central were incredible. I really did have a fantastic night & the bands exceeded my expectations of what I already knew would be an awesome night out for my daughter & I. My only complaint: the rude gig goers who, for some bizarre reason, insisted on chatting incessantly the whole way through. Bleddy buggers!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unbelievably Bad I've been to over a hundred gigs and I have to say this was the worst gig I've ever been to. Firstly we couldn't see the band because there were hardly any lights/spotlights on stage. The audience were talking all the way through every song which made the songs unbearable to listen to. Finally the vocalist (Ben Howard I think, but we couldn't tell because of the bad lighting) just mumbled through every song. The whole concert sounded terrible. I noticed loads of people leaving after a few songs. The crazy thing is when we were making our way back to the car park, we passed a pub with a couple of guys playing songs in the bar. They sounded a hundred times better than "A Blaze of Feather" and they were FREE.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from tried to be too cool Sorry I do not normally like to write a negative review but this gig was somewhat over-hyped with the pull of being Ben Howard's band who played in almost complete darkness through what should have been the most incredible sound ever judging by the incredible PA system however, you couldn't here a word that was sang or see anything through the blinding projector which made beautiful patterns on the walls after giving the audience laser-eye treatment. The music was lovely though very repetitive, combined with the lack of stage presence from the band who were most of the time in complete darkness and the incredibly hot venue we left half way through. The band aside, another review nailed it when they commented on the "ignorant audience" who carried on as though they were in a nightclub, chatting away as though there were not even a band on stage, maybe they didn't realise that there was a band on stage it being so dark and all. All that said, I love Ben Howard and Richard Thomas from Brother and Bones who I had really gone along to see if I am honest. Gave it a try but not really for me this time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Atmospheric evening of fantastic expansive guitars Had a fabulous evening with A Blaze of Feather on Sunday evening at the Falmouth Princess Pavilions. India Bourne's Tender Central was a powerful support act and set the bar high for the main attraction. The opening song Winter provided an atmospheric tone and showed off the band's talents as they emulated the moody Cornish winter capturing the storm tossed Atlantic coast line. Absolutely loved the visuals that were projected on to the walls of the Pavilion.
