Afrobeat Event Of The Decade Tickets
Sorry there are no shows for Afrobeat Event Of The Decade right now.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Robbierocket18293hmkgilag from A little disappointing. For an event billed as Afrobeat Event of the Decade, I was disappointed - the first act simply weren't Afrobeat by any stretch of the imagination, and Tony Allen played a jazz set. I'll let Tony off, and Seuni Kuti was great, but Heliocentrics were a bizarre choice of support. The venue also wasn't well managed - it took nearly half hour to queue for the cloakroom, one bar was cash only and you couldn't smoke anywhere until after 11 when the smoking area opened. I was really disappointed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by macep23 from If this was the afrobeat event of the decade why did Tony Allen play a jazz set? The Heliocentrics managed to set the tone with a tripped out set. Unfortunately Tony Allen played an indulgent jazz set. Probably an excellent jazz set but not what I paid for. He's the forefather of Afrobeat and his name is one of the main draws for what is supposed to be the Afrobeat event of the decade. Shame he didn't actually play any afrobeat. Seun Kuti was excellent, as as Fela's band and made up for my disappointment in Tony's set. But next time don't bill it as Afrobeat if one of your headline acts doesn't play any afrobeat. All in all just about scrapes 3 stars but that's down to Seun Kuti.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Jstar from Disappointing!!!!!!!! Was hyped about attending this event but unfortunately it was one big utter let down. The sounds was awful - I could hear myself whisper. The line-up was great on paper but in reality it was more like an experimental jazz/folk night. Big waste of money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by blipvert from Worst gig I have been to Indulgent lazy jazz from Tony Allen, Zero afro beat from The Heliocentrics A press ganged backing band for Kuti. A audience of pretentious uptight stiff music snobs. This was truly dreadful. Can I have my money back. Quote man behind me, 'This is so boring'

Rated 2 out of 5 by Square from Not as expected Hm... where to start!? This was not "afrobeat event if the decade" by a long shot! We didn't even get any afrobeat until about half midnight when kuti came on. The others played very downtempo jazz for about 5 hours so we were all pretty cheesed off. Not as advertised at all, we all left feeling cheated. I usually love soundcrash events but this one fell well short! Will think twice before booking tickets to one of their gigs again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Drew1978 from Great performance, unacceptable sound as anticipated all performances were great but unlistenable due to an array system from bose that wasn't just lacking in high frequencies but, I was sure didn't have any. The engineer assured us that it will be remedied soon as I'm sure otherwise O2 forum will go out of business

Rated 1 out of 5 by j0j084 from Misrepresentation NOT Afrobeats Event of the decade This was definitely advertised as what it was, the event was called Afrobeats event of the Decade, yet the Heliocentrics who have no link to afrobeats whatsoever performed a 1 hr set of their loud shrieking 'alternative' music first, by the end of their set everyone was too exhausted and depressed to enjoy the wonders of Tony Allen and Seun Kuti who are actual authentic afrobeats artists that deserved to be at the event. Thoroughly disappointing evening left early! Next time the organisers should look for a variety of real afrobeats supporting artists and not just pick anyone to fill the space or have the 2 main headliners perform for longer in order to warrant use of the name afrobeats event of the decade!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by jrs1 from ok, not much afrobeat, poor venue Wasn't much of an afrobeat night except for Seun Kuti at the end. The venue isn't great. It's really similar to Troxy (another old theatre) and I don't like the layouts of these types of venue (too many annoying railings and wasted space it seems like). Sound wasn't great/but quiet at times but got turned up. Expensive standard beers (normal of course) and £3 for the cloakroom. I've had much more fun at similar nights at Koko, so maybe I just don't like this venue l.
