Rated 3 out of 5 by neilw84 from Fantastic energy! If you wanted high drama, impressive lighting effects, stunning striking synchronised dance (with her two devilish alter egos!) and a wild energy, this was an exhilarating gig and the sold-out audience responded ecstatically. But if you wanted to hear BANKS’ extraordinary voice it was very disappointing. Most of the lyrics were overwhelmed by the crushing waves of instrumental sound and, when audible, her voice did not sound natural. In fact, when I saw her at the Ritz in Manchester in November 2014 I had at times wondered how much she was actually singing live: with only a drummer and keyboard/guitar player, a lot of the music was clearly ‘pre-recorded’ and her mike seemed to be adding effects to her singing – distortions (or even corrections?). That was the case again here and one begins to wonder what constitutes a live performance. And on those few occasions when BANKS spoke to the audience it was still hard to make out what she was saying. It was touching, however, and clearly heart-felt, that she expressed her gratitude to audiences in the UK for being the first to embrace her music and later added her thanks for changing her life.
