Rated 5 out of 5 by from Manchester show I have been waiting to see Bat For Lashes a good few years but they never toured close to where i lived. So when i saw they were somewhat close to my location i jumped at the chance and booked as soon as tickets were on sale. I initially wanted to go to the Brighton show, so i could also meet up with friends before/after. Unfortunately that was completely sold out so i opted for the closer Manchester gig. Apart from waiting 2 hours after doors opening it was an absolutely amazing gig. Natasha is as good, if not better, live as she is recorded. She gave off such passion during her show and it was so beautiful to watch. The atmosphere and location was great. I have never been to a gig in a cathedral but it suited the show well. Was definitely worth the wait to see her after all this time and i look forward to the launch of her new album.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Powerful singing and captivating performance Natasha performed a set of 16 songs lasting 75 minutes supported by two keyboard players and drummer; she herself played keyboard/omnichord on several tracks and guitar on others, and for some she just sang. I’ve now seen Natasha perform on three occasions and she’s been utterly captivating every time. The first part of this set was challenging, both for her and the audience, in that the first nine items were from her yet to be released The Bride cd, and only three of them were familiar. This difficulty was compounded by the serious, if not rather sombre mood and content of the new songs and Natasha introducing Never Forgive the Angels, for example, by saying, “This is where it gets dark”. The new songs were listened to respectfully and warmly applauded but Natasha’s unease was perhaps reflected in her introduction to If I Knew, a solo item for which she accompanied herself on keyboard, saying, “I’m nervous about the next one. I hope I don’t fxxx up.” Natasha looked stunning with her black shoulder-length hair and vivid red dress. At one point she thanked those in the audience who had taken up her suggestion to dress for the occasion, saying, “I’m so pleased so many of you have dressed up. We’ll give marks out of 10 later.” And towards the end of The Bride set, with her back to the audience, she enthusiastically threw a small bouquet of flowers over her head saying, “I’ve never done this before!” It was after the short break at the end of The Bride songs that the gig truly came to live. First Natasha sang Laura beautifully and then, after a Carpenters’ cover, she said to the audience “Time now to get your hips moving!” and she sang 5 songs from her past repertoire. She was totally relaxed and confident, engaging more with the audience, moving around the stage with great effect, and her powerful, crystal clear voice sounded majestic in the wonderful vibrant acoustic of the cathedral. The highlight was Marilyn in which her energy, vitality, and exuberant enjoyment of performance were just wonderful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Atmospheric, intimate gig - beautiful! A lovely, intimate show. Natasha's beautiful voice and her band filled the church with the new concept album, and pleased the crowd with some old favourites at the end.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from The Bride at Manchester Cathedral As a massive fan I drove 5 hours from Devon to Manchester to see and hear The Bride at Manchester cathedral. She was on top form as usual and I loved the new music, however the evening was spoilt by having to wait 2 hours for the band to come on stage. There was background choral music while we waited but no support act so we were stood on the same spot for 2 hours staring at a stage. My friend with a bad back had to go and sit on the floor. Couldn't even move because it was so tightly packed and being short I couldn't risk losing my place where I could just about see the stage. The stage needed to be much higher. Also we were asked to respect the cathedral as God's house and not to drop cans on the floor, there were plenty of bins. When the gig ended I was so appalled to see cans and sticky coke and lager all over the beautiful cathedral floor. Shame on those fans who were so disrespectful! by the way I picked up your cans for you and put them in the bin, I hope Natasha and her team read this post so they can how disrespectful some of her fans are and I'd also like an explanation on why we kept waiting so long.
