Beth Rowley Tickets
Sorry there are no shows for Beth Rowley right now.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Mike Nutt from Excellent homecoming for Beth! I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this event at The Lantern, that small and intimate space adjacent to the Bristol Colston Hall hosting the return of two of the city's finest female talents. Sure, I have enjoyed Beth Rowley's recordings. She has a real feeling for the blues, a great voice supported by some excellent musicians on her recordings. However, her debut album 'Little Dreamer' came out back in 2008, since when there has been nothing apart from four new songs on the EP 'Wretched Body' but even that was almost four years ago now. The EP was supposed to be the first in a series of three, but the follow-ups never materialised. So I wondered whether she had anything new to offer after all this time. The night got off to a promising start when fellow Bristol artist Katey Brooks took the stage unannounced and opened with 30 minutes of her own songs that melded folk, blues and soul. Accompanied by no more than her guitar or, later, a keyboards player, Katey's powerful voice carried great feeling and emotion. Katey can play a mean guitar too. Prompted by a voice in the audience, she remembered to introduce herself, with an embarrassed giggle, shortly before leaving the stage. Maybe I would have liked some more variety in the pace and the range of her songs but I will definitely be checking out her work in future. I found I had nothing to worry about once Beth Rowley started her performance. Looking relaxed and confident, she delivered a great set showcasing a number of new songs that suggest she is taking a more rock-based direction in her career. Difficult to judge on a single hearing, but I felt at times she reminded me just a little of Grace Slick at her best - and I can give no better praise than that. This was an excellent performance, with Beth's strong, clear vocals backed by a group of excellent musician. The audience packed into the sold out venue made its appreciation clear. Beth can still carry off a great blues number, but she has extended the width of her material into areas that hopefully will bring her greater recognition and commercial success. She was a very promising new artist when she burst onto the scene all those nine years ago, and it is time more people knew and heard her. The good news is that Beth has been back in the recording studio recently and she promised a new album will be out later in the year. I await its release with great anticipation. If it captures just some of the power and quality of her live performance tonight it will have been well worth the wait.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mattygigs from Mesmerised Superb talent who is able to bring a whole new level to her back catalogue that melds it seemlessly with the new material. The whole sound of her voice and the band was dripping with blues and soul so deeply absorbing and immersing it almost hurt that the show had to come to an end

Rated 5 out of 5 by Andrew petrou from Beth Rowley I went to this gig blind, having no idea what Beth sounded like, my friend Kristian recommended I go and see her. OH MY GOD, A lovely girl with a stunning voice, I urge you to look this girl up, she is also part of jools Holland' ruthenium & blues band :-) And she wanted to have her photo with me... How good is that :-)
