What people are saying about Bob Dylan

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My first experience of the concert of Bob Dylan What a impact this concert was! I really like Bob Dylan now.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Felt cheated This concert was not what I expected. Bought the tickets for my husband for his birthday and we both thought we would be hearing the wonderful melodies that we associate with Dylan's music, instead we got barely recognisable songs as a result of the whole arrangement being changed. Very disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dylan Bournemouth Was abit nervous having read the amount of American songbook type stuff he'd been playing but I think those tunes actually improve his voice on his own material. He looks like he is actually enjoying himself. Loved it keep on keepin on Bob!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointing Unlike some enormous arenas Wembley is a good venue. Nobody is too far from the stage and the plentiful bars and toilets. It was great to see Bob Dylan but it was disappointing in two aspects. Firstly he made no connection to the packed audience who had paid good money to see him. He spoke not one word, not even hello or goodnight, and did not introduce the band. I think this was just plain rude. Secondly I would guess, like us, most people were there to hear their favourite Dylan songs. There was only one that was recognisable.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Really Bob Dylan At the least it was a tick in the "I've seen Bob Dylan' box. It wasnt much more than that. For so many people to leave after 90 minutes of a 2 hour show says it all. We went looking for the holed-out jeans, songs of meaningful protest Dylan but all we got was a crooner wearing comfortable slacks. Just Dylan on a piano or at a mic. No guitar, even though one was only an arm length away unused. Strange that the songs we wanted to hear in the manner we wanted to hear them are perhaps more relevent now than they were when they were written. Blowing in the Wind simply ran out of puff, Ballad of a Thin Man became obese and Highway 61 became a cul de sac. But at least i got that tick in the box

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bob Dylan - Legend and Laureate Show was great and venue good. Food and drink over priced especially for industrial lager.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It probably was Bob Dylan but we were so far away it was hard to be sure I have never seen the great man so seeing him was on my bucket list. Having read lots of reviews of previous shows, I wasn't expecting him to bring the house down and sure enough he didn't. I get the impression that he is not interested in people leaving the gig saying how great it was. He played Blowing in the wind perhaps his most well known song but played with the group rather than acoustically so totally different and in fact initially quite hard to recognise which song it was. This was also true of Tangled up in Blue my personal favourite. The tune and words had all been changed for the worse out of all recognition. He seems to enjoy doing swing stuff eg that old Black magic and while he does it very well for someone whose voice is "unusual", others:- Frank Sinatra Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald and many others have also done this stuff and in some cases a lot better. This man has a back catalogue that any other artist would die for so why do songs that are not his and others have done better. I assume Mr Dylan doesn't allow venues to use giant screens as there were none in evidence. Likewise the lighting etc was simply on on the stage (when they were playing) or off for a short time between numbers. He also said absolutely nothing to the audience even to introduce the group at the end (they were great by the way). Personally I would have lovd to have heard him talk a little bit about how some of his best songs came about. It just think it's a bit sad when 5000 people cram into a venue to see you perform with most of them probably able to quote most of the lyrics of loads of your songs you don't give them some of those songs in recognisable form. In spite of all this I really enjoyed the show but my God how much better could it have been?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointing that he played recent stuff Most of the audience had come to hear his hits and back catalogue, but sadly they were disappointed
