EBI - LIVE IN CONCERT Tuesday 26 June 2012 8.30pm - Doors open at 7.45pm PLEASE NOTE THIS CONCERT IS IN PERSIAN Ebrahim Hamedi, better known as Ebi, is considered by many to be the best contemporary Iranian pop singer. He is acknowledged for his unique, warm baritone voice and for his outstanding ballads. Having started his career over 40 years ago, he is a well-established star with fans all over the world. Ebi's unique style and charming personality have attracted fans of all ages. Ebi was born in Tehran in 1949 and started his career with two bands: the 'Sun Boys' and the 'Black Cats'. It wasn't until the early 1970's that Ebi started to pursue a solo career. He shot to fame in the mid 1970's with 5 number one hits. Having recorded six albums, some of which include songs that are still popular amongst Iranian youth, Ebi left Iran two years before the 1979 Islamic Revolution, but continued to work in the US. During his years away from Iran, he recorded another 13 albums and is still performing at sold-out concerts at some of the most prestigious international venues around the world including the Sydney Opera House, LA Greek Theatre, Sydney State Theatre and Washington DC Kennedy Center. During a career spanning over 40 years, Ebi has been awarded several awards (including the title of 'Master of Voice') and has inspired a whole generation to follow in his footsteps.
