What people are saying about Ezra Furman

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One Day I Will Sin No More As a person of, ahem, advancing years, I had not been to the Foundry since the mid-90s when I saw Gene there. Also, I was not massively up on Ezra Furman, having just bought Perpetual Motion People on the recommendation of a friend. He was disarming and charming, as was the audience - people DO have manners! Who knew? Very good concert, helped by Ezra'a klutziness, like when his bass player had to rescue him from a complicated mic stand. He was lovely after the show too, happily chatting, signing and posing with well wishers. Bravo from this daft veteran who still refers to gigs as concerts, and God bless you Ezra - the lord is indeed up head and the devil behind.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ezra Furman at the Joiners I was very excited to go to Southampton to see Ezra Furman and the Boyfriends live. I have been a massive fan of Ezra since hearing My Zero on 6Music when Day of the Dog came out and I hadn't been to any concerts for about a decade, so it was a great experience for me. We got to the show early, which was a bit rubbish as the venue does not open at all until the time printed on the ticket (so don't anyone else make that mistake!). The room was tiny and soon got very hot and sweaty at the front. Ezra only did a very short set and was clearly unhappy throughout but it was still a really good gig. The band were on top form, despite Ben Joseph's bad leg which he had to put up on a stool. The best part of the gig for me was the intimacy of the setting and the enthusiasm of the crowd.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ezra Furman -a definite must see! I have been a fan of Ezra for a while and had been eager to see him play live. I had read reviews of previous tours all pretty good describing him as a unique artist . He was certainly that in his dress pearls and bright red lipstick he looked as brilliant as is his music. He played 20 songs plus mostly from his most recent album as well as some from his Day of the Dog album he also played some new stuff which was enthusiastically received. His in between songs comments to the crowd were funny if slightly self conscious ,he obviously doesn't take himself too seriously which I think endeared him to his audience.I can honestly say that it's a long time since someone so totally different appeared on the music scene who appeals to such a wide ranging audience. He is young energetic with songs that draw on lots of different influences each one immediately recognisable from the opening chords There were many highlights for me but the best was the playing of My Zero-my favourite song. I will definitely be there for his next tour hopefully it will have a lot more dates than this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from incredible energy and talent My third ezra furman gig- an amazing band with humour, talent and heart. Ezra is a fantastic front man with a captivating smile but all the band have personality and are great performers.
