What people are saying about Grayson Perry

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent evening We went to see Grayson at the Palladium. The evening was a hybrid of comedy and informative talk on his new book about masculinity. So glad I went he is a great speaker, as well as wearing fabulous frocks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Misleading Title This was anything BUT a typical man in a dress and whilst I appreciate the irony; I feel it undersells a wonderfully fresh evening....Thankyou Grayson Perry

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Funny. Smart. Necessary. I went to this event with my husband, and it was one of the best talks we've been to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely FANTASTIC Part discourse, part iconoclasm, part Q&A; ALL of it brilliant. Mr Perry is good on the telly but he's perhaps even better commanding (and dancing on) the stage in front of the Hipsters of London. Loved it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Another dress, Same Older Grayson Perry Having seen Grayson Perry, at the RFH on 31 January 2014 wearing a dress in his show (Being A Man - Sit down for your rights), this show was Grayson Perry in a new dress being a man asking men again to sit down for their rights. In summary it was same but older Grayson Perry. It's a pity, because Grayson is engaging, intelligent, thought provoking and creative. But the show was full of his oft repeated critique of men summed up with suggestion that the each news bulletin could be headlined - "how men screwed up the world today - again" . He began the show at least 10 minutes late and generously gave us 30 minutes interval to purchase very expensive drinks during which we were invited to tweet our opinions on being a man. This enabled him to fill the first half of the second half before setting out his tried and tested list of how men could change their behaviour followed by ad-hoc Q&As. But overall it felt that we paid a lot of money to listen to nothing new. It was as if him wearing a dress was also now a distraction evidenced by the first question " Oh where did you get that dress?" Being a celebrity comes with responsibilities - not just to cash in - but to deliver memorable moments. Grayson is cashing in but we were left feeling short-changed. I still though have put on my wish list for Xmas his new book "The Descent of Man". At least then I will be doing as he suggests - sitting down.

More Information about Grayson Perry

Grayson Perry is a man. He is also an award-winning artist, Bafta-winning TV presenter, Reith Lecturer and bestselling author with traditional masculine traits like a desire to always be right and to overtake all other cyclists when going up big hills. So what is masculinity and what can it become? It might seem almost redundant in a world facing climate change and vast imbalances in global wealth, but Grayson Perry sees masculinity as a highly active component in all the big issues. Alongside the release of his new book, "The Descent of Man", join Grayson for an intelligent evening of laughs, discussion, insight and costume changes... Presented by Alex Fane in association with Curtis Brown
A £1.50 restoration levy (collected on behalf of the theatre) appears as part of the ticket cost.
