Sorry, there are no shows for JACK LUKEMAN AKA JACK L right now.
Although Jack L (aka Jack Lukeman) would become a critically respected and well-known solo artist with a penchant for conjuring up the smoky pop of icons such as Jaques Brel, Tom Waits, and Scott Walker, he made his first recorded appearance as part of the group The Black Romantics. After recording the album Wax with said band, Jack L went off on his own, and self-released his solo debut, Metropolis Blue in 1999.
With the album a success in his native Ireland, Jack L went abroad looking to spread his message, touring the United States in 2000. He released the album, Universe, in 2001, and followed it up with an intimate acoustic tour under the aegis "The Little Universe Show." The tour was captured on disc for a 2002 release, and featured such gems as Jack L originals and Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Out of My Head." While Jack would take some time off from releasing albums, he would revisit his love of Jacques Brel. Spurred on by participation in an unreleased documentary on the Belgian crooner, Jack L created a show around the singer, and called it "Chez Jack L -- Love, Sex, Death & Brel." The show was a huge hit during its run, justifying a DVD release in 2004.
His return to new material and album releases was marked in 2005 with both the Amsterdam Album and the Brussels Album. In 2006, he released the album Broken Songs and the DVD Moment. In 2007, one could find Jack L back in the studio working on his next release. ~ Chris True, All Music Guide
