More Information about Mac Miller

With a No.1 US album, and a staggering eight mixtapes under his 21 year old belt, Pittsburgh native Malcolm "Mac Miller" McCormick returns with his sophomore album "Watching Movies With The Sound Off" on June 17th. To celebrate the release, Mac Miller will play a special intimate one-off show, exclusively previewing tracks from the new album. He will also be backed by his new live band The Internet for the first time, at Brixton's Plan B on Monday June 10th. Tickets are available exclusively here from Saturday June 1s t at 9am

Speaking about the show Mac says:

"We have recreated all the songs specifically for this performance. We've been working tirelessly on coming up with live versions that only involve the incredible instrumentation and vibe that is The Internet. It's been a dream of mine to play with a band and the opportunity to do that with my friends and not hired musicians is special. Please come ready to listen because we have prepared something completely for you. It's also going to be a really small venue. I spend so much time running around on stage like a mad man, I wanted to slow it down for once and give everybody a chance to hear what it is we are saying. Plus I've been missing that UK air."

Announced by Mac via Ustream, "WMWTSO" is the hotly anticipated follow up to his 2011 debut "Blue Slide Park". "S.D.S." is the first single, released on July 1st, and the video has had over a million views on YouTube.

Mac pulls in features from the cream of the most talked about hip hop artists of the moment, including Odd Future's Tyler, The Creator, Action Bronson and more. Brainfeeder's Flying Lotus produced "S.D.S.", and further production duties come from the legendary Pharrell Williams and Diplo.

Mac started off 2013 with a bang, clocking up endorsements to make him a household name. Earier this year he was named Complex Magazine's "Man of Next Year", he has a sponsorship deal with soft drink brand Mountain Dew, and a cameo in the recently released film "Scary Movie 5". Mac's MTV2 reality show "Mac Miller and The Most Dope Family" became the highest rated debut in the history of the channel, and has been picked up for a second season.

Keeping true to his backpacker style, Mac Miller was signed independently to Rostrum Records, also home to Wiz Khalifa, in 2011. 'Blue Slide Park' became the first independently distributed debut album to top the US charts since The Dogg Pound's "Dogg Food" back in 1995.

In his early teens Miller began to take his influences from the likes of A Tribe Called Quest, Big L, and Outkast, which helped him develop a reputation for delivering jaw-dropping freestyles in Pittsburgh.

Like most of his contemporaries, he first came to prominence by dropping a host of mixtapes. It was with 'K.I.D.S.' and 'Best Day Ever', released 2010 and 2011 respectively, that Mac really rose from local sensation to online phenomenon, with each of his music videos clocking views by the millions on YouTube. This in turn led to the young American selling out shows across the US and Europe, which remarkably included sell-out gigs at London's Shepherds Bush Empire and The Forum.

Mac kicks off a huge US tour in June, running throughout the summer, with support from Action Bronson, The Internet and more. Mac returns to Europe in October, touring with Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz. Look out for Mac Miller continuing his rise to dominance in the international music world in 2013 and beyond.
