Love is a battlefield...
MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING is one of Shakespeare's greatest comedies, chronicling the rough, heady and irresistible malady of falling in love. Young and impassioned Claudio, fresh from the wars, has fallen in love with Hero, the beautiful daughter of the Duke. While the two hastily plan their nuptials, a seething malevolence lurks in the shadows, one that threatens to turn their hope and happiness to ashes. Meanwhile, militant singletons Beatrice and Benedick wage their 'merry war' with each other, determined to never marry, much less to each other - preferring instead to scorn love and every fool found under its spell. Their friends however, fall upon a cunning scheme to bring their hearts and wits forever together, as long as they don't kill each other first.
The Lion & Unicorn Theatre brings this seminal work from the world's greatest playwright for his 450th birthday, to commence their inaugural Shakespeare season. Hilarious, gripping and vibrant, Much Ado features two of the Bard's most beloved of unwilling lovers, and promises to be a spectacular feast of romance, redemption and revelry.
