RICHARD HERRING: AS IT OCCURS TO ME Tickets and Dates

As It Occurs To Me, the seminal internet stand up and sketch show starring Richard Herring is set to return. Written in the 24 hours before recording it detailed some of the stranger things that had happened or imagined by Herring that week. It ran as an audio podcast for three series between 2009 and 2011, regularly topping the iTunes charts and winning the first Chortle Internet award as well as being nominated for the prestigious Sony Award. Exhausted by the crazy schedule that led to recurring characters as diverse as King Herod and Tam Dalyall, Herring vowed that the final show was the end of the project. But now he wants to bring it back, this time as six, monthly, filmed internet shows. To fund this project Richard has set up a kickstarter campaign with an ambitious target of £100,000 (though taking into account VAT and kickstarter commission that leaves just over £12,000 to make each 30 minute episode) and already filmed a few taster sketches, like this one. He hopes that two or three thousand fans will donate to reach the total (having already raised around £70,000 in the same manner to film his Leicester Square Theatre Podcasts). The new show will be filmed (or recorded on audio if they fail to reach their target) at the Leicester Square Theatre between September 2016 and February 2017. Although there will be the occasional nod to the old series, this will be a reboot for AIOTM and Herring hopes to showcase some exciting independent film makers, animators and crew who will bring his sketches and short films to life. But there will still be the slapdash and improvised quality to the studio sections of the show and if the money runs out he is prepared to film it all himself on his iPhone. It's a bold attempt to create a TV quality comedy series on a tiny budget, without the restrictions that television, schedulers and executives would impose.
