What people are saying about Rick Wakeman

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A really intimate and enjoyable concert at the Barrow Hill roundhouse An excellent and unusual location for a concert which, along with Rick's mastery of the keyboards and sardonic wit made for a very enjoyable evenings entertainment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rick Wakeman at Barrow Hill My husband has been a great fan of Rick for many years, last year he was 60 and I bought tickets to see Journey to the Centre of the Earth at the Royal Concert Hall Nottingham, what a night, now I was converted. When we saw that Rick was at Barrow Hill, we booked immediately and a friend asked if he could join us, we all had a fantastic night, wouldn't have missed it for the world, Rick said he would be back at Barrow Hill we will be with you Rick, thanks for a great night.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still excellent after all these years I remember Rick Wakeman from the 1970s. I went with my son who is a lot younger. We BOTH really enjoyed the music and the venue and would certainly go again, both to the venue and to see Rick and his friends!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rick Wakeman at Barrow Hill Inspired to hold a rock concert in an engine shed. Really enjoyed the atmosphere. Rick Wakeman is simply an extraordinary keyboard player. So glad we got the chance to see him and in such a great venue. Just hope Barrow Hill can hold other rock concerts and Rick Wakeman remains a brilliant musician.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Gig I went to this gig as a favour to a friend, although I have been a fan of Rick Wakeman and Yes in the past. Very small, almost intimate setting. The music and acoustics were excellent. RW has a great rapport with his fans. There was real ale on sale, though, sadly, the good stuff sold out way too fast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rick Wakeman and the English Rock Ensemble - live at Barrow Hill Roundhouse This was an absolutely brilliant night out. A fantastic setting with all the steam trains on view, loads of space to move around to ensure a good view, a more than adequate bar selling some very nice beers and an excellent sound stage, helping to deliver a thrilling gig from the band. An all round excellent evenings entertainment. I will certainly keep my eye out for similar events at this venue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rick Wakeman at the Engine Shed Being from Chesterfield I was pleasantly surprised to notice that keyboard virtuoso, legend and all round great bloke Rick Wakeman was appearing in my back yard, so to speak. He didn't disappoint on the night, showcasing music from his back catalogue, interspersing that with his trademark wit and joke telling. The venue was a real surprise, atmospheric and industrial with locomotives smoking like sleeping dragons. The only down side to the event was that the venue ran out of ale before the show had reached it's half way point, which considering I'd walked to the venue so that I could enjoy a drink was disppointing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous gig in a standout setting In a restored railway roundhouse at Barrow Hill Chesterfield Derbyshire with' smoking' steam engines was a fabulous backdrop to Rick Wakeman's two hour non stop all action set. The keyboard wizard orchestrated a dizzying run through his greatest hits. He strode through the enthusiastic crowd be-caped fingers crazily along his 'guitar' organ. A final tribute to Chris Squire left the bassist with cramp in his hands! A real ale bar and a community cafe with good value homely food.
