Steely Scam Tickets
Sorry there are no shows for Steely Scam right now.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Spage from Were they, weren't they ? Having never seen this band before, I was very sceptical but thought that if anyone dared to base their material on Steely Dan, then they MUST be confident. Tickets were purchased and our confidence grew when the vast array of instruments became evident upon arrival. All doubts quickly disappeared when the stage filled with 10 musicians !! and ripped into their set. I would not like to pick a favourite section as every single musician was absolutely stunning. How can a single person handle the complex vocals of Steely Dan music PLUS the equally complex Bass guitar requirements?..... impossible I agree but it happened !, keyboard player, guitarists & backing vocals all just brilliant. The 4 piece brass section had a tight squeeze to fit on the stage but by golly they were REALLY TIGHT. Finally the drummer?, we have first hand knowledge of drumming as my wife's brother has been a professional musician all his life going back to the sixties when he and the other members of a Southampton based group left for life in London. Well this guy was sensational !, again the material requires very complex passages, his build in 'Aja' was nothing short of staggering. Sorry to bang on but hats off to all these guys (and lady) go see them !!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nick Goodall from Best tribute band I've seen I and some pals saw tribute band Steely Scam perform at the Talking Heads venue in Southampton on Thursday. They were absolutely brilliant - faultless renditions and a lovely full sound from a ten-piece band, comprising keyboards, bass, two lead/rhythm guitars, female backing singer/percussion, a four man brass section and drums. We enjoyed it so much so that we're booking to see them at Hanger Farm in September too. I'm not sure of the economics of such a low ticket price and such a small audience. I'd pay more. The gig started later than we thought so I had to decide whether to leave early to catch the last train, or stay to the end and pay for a taxi. No contest - I stayed, and even having got the train there and paid twenty quid taxi fare it was a bargain evening because Steely Scam were so good.
