What people are saying about The Gunton Festival of Food + Music

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money This event was billed as a festival of food and music. We were very disappointed with the limited food on offer and the quality was comparable to a poor quality fast food chain. The music was better but the bands were squeezed into a marquee, a stage so that you could see and hear the musicians would probably have added some atmosphere to the event.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great day. Looking forward to next year. Excellent location Access to the pub really helped. More food outlet might help. But small crowd was the key. Going nest year for sure.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Gunton - not sure if its a musical day out or a fete for the oldies This was the first Gunton festival of food and music so it has to be applauded for trying something ambitious like this. Its difficulty was it wasn't sure if it was a food event for the older generation who are supporters of the pub's restaurant, or if it was seriously trying to set up a music event for a mixed age audience. The bands in the large marquee were sparsely attended as most of the attendees to the event sat in chairs in the large open area outside the pub and the marquee, chatting and drinking with friends. This was all very convivial but meant the music seemed of little significance. They had some fun local bands playing and a good headline band who had the most support of the evening. On the food side this was much more interesting than you would normally find at a music festival, but not that great if it was intended to be a major draw in its own right. If they are to do this event again, they may need to figure out how to make the music more central to the overall experience - or just have a big open day and do more adventurous food and drink alone.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great music , poor and expensive food selection Fabulous music . Advertised as food festival but, very poor selection almost exclusively provided by the host and expensive considering the length of the festival. In bad weather you well be told to stand at all times (as we were)in the marquee by security so you need to be able to do this for possibly long periods of time if it not good enough to sit outside.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Festival of food and music Music line up was very good. However disapointed in the food aspect of the festival . My expectation was that there would be food stalls offering interesting and varied cuisine . It really was a pub event with their food. positive aspect you could come and go if you wanted . Negative was camping would have been a bonus and then it would have been a festival . To improve the overall experience if this is an annual event in the future try to get more interest for the audience throughout the day with various side events eg ice cream van, coffee outlets , juggling for kids or similar .

Rated 1 out of 5 by from disappointing Very low key. Horribly expensive food which we waited an hour for. Staff managed to remain very cheerful and friendly under pressure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great day out! We arrived at 12.30 and the first thing to put a smile on my face was the usual 'Gunton vibe'. Well organised, the whole set up was professional and thought-through. The outside bar was serving drinks at their usual prices (unheard of at most events). The BBQ and Pizza on offer was varied and reasonably priced and everything looked delicious. We decided to eat in the Elk Room and enjoyed park chops, steak and sausages cooked on the open fire. Delicious as always. I was impressed by the number of crew on duty .... glasses were regularly cleared away, there were ice buckets available, ashtrays, bins, .... everything anyone could possibly need, was provided. The music/bar tent was great .... plenty of dancing room and a full bar on the go. We enjoyed the DJ and 4D Jones were exceptionally good. As the evening drew in, we sat and watched the sun go down on a great day. Thank you .... and please do it again next year.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fab festival Went to this event at the Gunton Arms as it is very local to me, and I love the venue some of the music was not my style but it was quite varied food was excellent, at times a little bit of a que although didn't have to wait too long for drinks and extra toilet facilities were in place. A lovely evening. Well done Gunton Arms
