The Hype Theory are a powerpop/punk band from Chelmsford, Essex. Their blend of summery pop rock tunes has taken them to the biggest UK festivals including Download, T in the Park, Underage, Hevy and Sonisphere. The band formed in the summer of 2010 after lead vocalist Katy Jackson and Guitarist Sean Bishop spent a year of experimental writing together at college.

The pair then finished the line up with Josh Coombes on drums, Jack Divey on bass and Tom Harrison on Guitar and have since spent the past year supporting bands such as Me vs Hero, Summerlin, Don Broco, All Forgotten, Shadows Chasing Ghosts, The First and Paige to name a few.

In November 2010 the band self released their debut single ‘We Will Be Singing’ which was picked up by Alex Baker on Kerrang! Radio and earned them the title as one of 2010’s Hottest female fronted bands voted by Kerrang! Radios listeners. They now receive regular airtime on the station.

In December 2010 the band hit the studio with Matt O’Grady (You Me At Six, Deaf Havana) to record their debut album, titled 'Glory Days'. These recordings drew the attention of many record labels, but the band decided to sign with Small Town Records in the Spring of 2011. ‘Kid At Heart’ was the first single released through Small Town Records, on 8th August 2011.

The music video which accompanied the single has seen extensive play on none other than Kerrang and Scuzz TV. The summer of 2011 has seen the band play the UK's biggest festivals after earning a place in the final 8 of the Red Bull Bedroom Jam. This saw the band share the stage with the biggest names in rock at Download, T In The Park, Sonisphere, Hevy, and Underage festivals, as well as at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards. Things for The Hype Theory have been moving fast, and with tours booked up for the foreseeable future, there's no doubt that this band are a force to be reckoned with.
