More Information about THE SELECTER FEAT PAULINE BLACK & GAPS HENDRICKSON

In 1979 Pauline Black became the lead singer with 2-TONE band The Selecter, who spearheaded the 2-tone label alongside The Specials, Madness and of course The Beat. They enjoyed a string of hits in the early '80'S, gaining two gold discs, to mark 100,000 sales of the albums 'Too Much Pressure’ and ‘Dance Craze’.

Pauline Black has spent the last 30 years maintaining the fierce independence that she first forged in her early days. Building a considerable reputation through singing, song writing, and acting. Never content to just rest on her laurels or pursue the road of easy celebrity, Pauline has delivered 10 studio albums, throughout her career. Pauline Black is a singular woman with a multi-faceted talent.

September 2011 saw a new 10 track album ‘Made In Britain’ released, featuring covers of Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back To Black’ & a hugely popular anti-racist ska/reggae re-working of Woody Guthrie’s ‘All You Fascists Bound To Lose’- re-invented as ‘Big In The Body- Small In The Mind’.

Pauline Black has also written a well-received 2-Tone memoir, ‘Black By Design’ which has been published by ‘Serpent’s Tail’ which was released in July 2011.
