See Tickets is Official Ticketing Partner to Independent Venue Week 2021

See Tickets will be official ticketing partner to Independent Venue Week 2021. IVW will run from 25 to 31 January 2021 and will celebrate the venues across the UK which not only act as much-loved live music hubs but often double up to provide creative spaces for their local communities.

See Tickets has long been a champion of independent venues working with more than 50 venue partners across the UK including The Leadmill, Electric Ballroom, Albert Hall Manchester, Village Underground, Omeara, The Brudenell, Alexandra Palace, The Boileroom, Sneaky Pete’s, Bush Hall and Lincoln Engine Shed.

Rob Wilmshurst, Global CEO at See Tickets said: "We're very proud to be supporting IVW 2021 in what has been a challenging time for live event venues. These spaces are at the heart of the live music scene and we feel strongly that their contribution should be both recognised and celebrated."

Sybil Bell, Founder of Independent Venue Week said: "We're so chuffed to be working with See Tickets for #IVW21. See are hugely favoured by so many of our venues and promoters and having worked with the team on and off over the years, we totally understand why. Working with like-minded people who care passionately about the grassroots community is always important to us and formalising our working relationship this year feels like a great next step."

More news on the 2021 IVW programme will follow in the coming weeks with events likely to include live streams and socially distanced gigs.

See Tickets Launches Socially Distanced Seat Plan Functionality

See Tickets has launched a tool-set to create and manage ‘socially distanced’ seating plans. This has been used successfully in a number of recent circumstances.

This feature will allow any configuration of ‘social distancing’ from variations on the initial chequer board concepts, to the wrapping of any number of ‘dead’ seats around any quantity of seats sold as a ‘bubble’.

Any configuration can be designed including table plans, camp sites(!) and traditional auditoria plans.

Venues, attractions and events as diverse as English Heritage, Alexandra Palace, Brand Events’ Drive & Dine Theatre and Greenwich Comedy Festival have been using See Tickets' suite of Covid-safe tools as part of their re-opening procedures. These tools include limited capacity time slot ticketing, contactless access control, personalised track and trace ticketing and car registration capture where the event is of a drive-in nature.

Rob Wilmshurst, Global CEO at See Tickets said: “We remain committed to investing in, and giving our clients and our customers, the very best services and systems to help get the industry moving again during and after this pandemic.”

See Tickets On-Site and Access Control at Greenwich Comedy Festival 2020

We have been supporting clients with Covid safe on-site and access control services and demonstrated this successfully at Greenwich Comedy Festival which took place in September 2020 with numerous safety measures in place.

Tickets were sold through See Tickets in multiples of two and each pair of seats was socially distanced from others. Customers were seated in blocks and their block allocation linked to the pre-allocated entrance and staggered arrival time they were given.

All See customers were electronically sent a ‘print at home’ ticket via email as a PDF file which can be displayed and scanned from a mobile device easily. See can also assist event organisers with track and trace and can upon request, provide the lead booker’s contact details including time stamp of entry.

Attendees entered via two separate entrances that led ticket holders to a single double-sided tent that worked as both entry scanning and bar facility. All attendees were directed to one of seven event staff positioned behind perspex shields to have their tickets validated via See’s access control solution.

A staggered exit system was deployed with instructions announced from stage at close of event. Attendees were required to leave via the same entrance they arrived at, distancing between others in the queue.

Attendees were extremely compliant with safety measures in place and followed instructions carefully. A noticeable willingness for the event to take place and for ticket holders to be at a live event again aided this. This made the event a much safer environment, and so can be deemed a huge success in our on-site operation helping clients during this time.

Pet Shop Boys Perform Intimate Show to Raise Money For Independent Music Venues

Passport: Back to Our Roots is a nationwide series of one-off intimate gigs by the UK's biggest artists, supporting the independent grassroots venues that form the foundations of the UK’s live music scene.

This is your chance to watch the biggest artists play their smallest gigs – live and in person like they should be – while making a huge difference to the UK's crisis-stricken grassroots music venues, who need urgent help due to COVID-19 closures.

The gigs will be happening as soon as real shows can happen safely - these are not socially distanced, compromised experiences. Prize draw entries for each gig will be open for two weeks, and at the end of each campaign, all proceeds go to support these venues who need the money, right now. By making a £5 donation you'll be entered into the prize draw to get into the show you and a friend!

Petition: Review Need For Social Distancing Inside Theatres Before November

Given the dire situation the theatre industry is in we call on the Government to review the continued imposition of social distancing in indoor theatres as soon as possible (and on a regular basis thereafter should it need to remain in force) and well before the currently stated timeline of November

The theatre industry is benefiting from the culture bail-out but that sum cannot do more than help some venues and organisations survive the current closure. The decision not to review social distancing until November is adversely affecting recovery chances and jeopardising thousands of jobs and many venues. The rationale for keeping theatres closed for months longer must be properly debated and speedier consideration needs to be given to the possibility of lifting social distancing in theatres.
