RSC's Imperium at the Gielgud Theatre this Summer

Imperium

Based on the bestselling Cicero Novels by Robert Harris, the Royal Shakespeare Company's Imperium plays transfer to the West End for a strictly limited season following a sell-out run in Stratford-Upon-Avon.

Directed by Artistic Director Gregory Doran, the RSC reunite with Mike Poulton following his adaptations of the triumphant Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel.

Imperium is presented in two plays, which can be enjoyed as independent historical thrillers, or together as one unmissable theatrical event.

Told through the watchful eyes of Cicero's loyal secretary, Imperium I: Conspirator reveals how the great orator's early success unwittingly paves the way for a brutal and bloody end to the Republic.

With Rome in chaos at the beginning of Imperium II: Dictator, Cicero battles to restore the power of the Senate from the unruly civic mob and their would-be Emperor: one Julius Caesar.

The Imperium plays feature Olivier and Tony Award-winner Richard McCabe (The Audience) as Cicero and Joseph Kloska (The Crown, RSC's Written on the Heart) as Tiro
