The Acceso String Quartet and Laithwaite’s wine are combining their talents and expertise to indulge you in an intimate evening of classical music and fine wines.

The quartet comprises leading professional musicians who regularly perform with the Hallé Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, RLPO and Opera North.

The evening’s concert opens with a rendition of ‘Company’ by American minimalist composer Philip Glass. The string quartet was commissioned in 1983 for the dramatisation of Samuel Beckett’s short novel ‘Company’.

To follow is string quartet no.19 K.465, Mozart’s last in a set of six string quartets composed in Vienna during the height of his career and dedicated to his good friend Joseph Haydn. Known famously as The Dissonance Quartet, it is celebrated for the extreme uncertainty of it’s introductory passage. This is probably the most famous of all of Mozart’s 23 string quartets.

After a short interval, the Acceso Quartet will return to perform what is considered to be one of the most popular works in the chamber music repertoire. Dvorak’s string quartet in F. Nicknamed the ‘American Quartet’, it was written in 1893 during Dvorak’s time in the United States and is an exceptionally joyful piece of music which proved a turning point in Dvorak’s chamber music output.

A selection of expertly chosen Austrian and American wines will be on offer to taste and purchase along with a selection of Czech pilsner, IPA and wheat beers courtesy of Tom Ottley of Laithwaite's Wine, Alderley Edge. All of the wines will be available by the glass and there will be a discounted price for wines purchase after the event too.
