Jenius Social, Studio 8, Islington Studios.

Secure your place now: learn from the experts at BBC Good Food! Since 1989 Good Food has been making it easier to cook and eat well every day with imaginative recipes, kitchen tips and techniques for cooks of all skill levels. To mark our 30th anniversary, we invite you to learn some new skills with us at our first-ever cookery class pop-up. Choose from two different half-day sessions, morning or afternoon, which include a light lunch or supper including what you have cooked yourself with wine, a BBC Good Food apron and a goody bag worth £25 to take home.

Chef Barney Desmazery and another member of the team will be teaching each session so hurry - there's only 16 places per class!

Knife Skills and Curry Spices

Followed by an expert gin and whisky tasting with brands Gin Mare, Compass Box whisky and Nonsuch Shrubs.
All professional chefs learn how to handle a knife before they learn anything else. Under the close guidance of chef Barney Desmazery master the art of chopping, slicing and dicing as well as the best way to crush a clove of garlic so you can cook like a pro at home.
Next, extend your knowledge of spices and how to balance and layer their different flavour by making a spice mix which we will use in one of our most popular chicken curry recipes. Practise your new knife skills further by putting together some classic, fresh-tasting Indian side dishes and some spiced rice. Finally, we'll make a simple but stylish pineapple dessert that can be dressed up with a choice of different flavours to round things off. Throughout the class we'll share all our tips and tricks and you'll leave with an exclusive booklet of recipes, a Good Food apron to keep and a goody bag worth £25.
