Chorley Amateur Dramatic & Operatic Society present FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME
Written by Terry Wynn
Directed by Steve Unsworth
Produced by Barry Callander
A new play, full of warmth, humour and passion, about sporting division in the North of England and the power of communities to bring people together.
Set in the period from 1980 to 1995 it’s the true story of a young man prevented from playing for his hometown club because he’s already played another sport while at University. Backed by the tight-knit Wigan Rugby League fans, Jason uses his legal skills to take on the old duffers of Rugby Union and drag the sport into modern times.
From the playing fields of Wigan to the corridors of power, the fight for justice reaches the highest levels and brings together an unlikely bunch of freedom fighters.
This play about class, discrimination and Northern humour is an inspirational story for everyone.
