Named after the Eddie Bo 45 of the same name, HOOK & SLING is London's Funk Weekender dedicated to bringing you the finest Funk bands from the past and present and DJ's playing the hardest Funk 45's in existence.

Rhythm Machine hail from Omaha, Nebraska and they released their debut Funk 45 'Freakish Love' in 1975. The following year saw the band release their debut self-titled album on the Indianapolis record label Lulu. Their second single 'Put a Smile On Time' came out in 1976. Egon's Now-Again record label re-issued the band's entire back catalgoue in 2012.

The Soul Toronados hail from Akron, Ohio and released three legendary funk 45's between 1969-1972 which were compiled by Jazzman Records as 'The Complete Recordings' in 2005. The Soul Toronados are flying in to perform hits such as 'Hot Pants Breakdown', 'Crazy Legs' and 'Funky Thang'.

The Highlighters Band featuring James Bell hail from Indianapolis and released two of the best Funk 45's ever in 1969 - 'The Funky 16 Corners' and 'Poppin' Popcorn'. The 45's are also sought after for their sweet soul flip sides. Stones Throw Records took 'The Funky 16 Corners' as the name of their 2001 rare funk compilation.

Osaka Monaurail are Japan's premier Funk crew led by Ryo Nakata. The band formed in 1992 and have released over 11 albums in a career that spans two decades. Osaka Monaurail have made collaborative albums with both Marva Whitney and Martha High who both were vocalists with the James Brown Revue in the 1970's.

Will Sessions hail from Detroit and are arguably the best funk group in the world today. A slew of killer 45's on the Funk Nightrecord label with Billy Love, Rickey Calloway & Amp Fiddler have sent the funk/breaks world into overdrive with copies of some of these singles already selling for big money in the collectors world. Will Sessions have also collaborated with Mayer Hawthorne, Black Milk, Elzhi, Danny Brown and more.

Rickey Calloway is the self-proclaimed "King of Funk" who released his debut single "Tell Me" in 1970. After Kenny Dope re-mixed and re-issued the single in 2004 Rickey has joined forces with The Dap-Kings, Will Sessions and The Soul Surfers to release singles on the Funk Night and Kay Dee labels.

The Soul Surfers are Russia's finest Funk/Soul band whose 2015 debut album on Ubiquity Records, 'Soul Rock!', was preceded by some of the heaviest Funk 45's you are ever likely to hear.

Hamburg's The Mighty Mocambos have been releasing quality soul and funk recordings since 2008. They have worked alongside Gizelle Smith, Lee Fields and Afrika Bambaataa.

One of the UK's toughest Funk combos, Funkshone make a rare live appearance. Led by Mike Bandoni, Funkshone have released two albums since 2006 and have been remixed by Kenny Dope.

Switzerland's Kind & Kinky Zoo make their UK debut after critically acclaimed releases on Mocambo, Légere and RocafortRecords.
