LOVE LIES BLEEDING
Dir Rose Glass | 2024 | UK, USA | 104 min | 15 | English

In 1980s New Mexico, Lou ekes out a tough existence managing the local gym and trying to keep out of her father’s criminal enterprises. Her life is upended when Jackie turns up in town, running away from home in pursuit of her dream of winning a big bodybuilding contest in Vegas. The spark between them is instant, but passionate, whirlwind romance ignites violence, pulling them deep into the web of Lou's criminal family and an illicit world of gun running and drugs.

Starring Kristen Stewart, Katy O'Brian, Ed Harris

REVIEWS
"A heart-pounding, iron-pumping descent into the heady heart of obsession and desire." Hannah Strong, Little White Lies

"An exciting, instant classic that will hopefully usher in a new era of unapologetically weird lesbian cinema." Jourdain Searles, Autostraddle

"With a visionary at the helm and an impressive cast willing to follow along with every wild turn thrown at them, it makes for a captivating genre-bending thriller unafraid to get deeply weird and ultra-violent." ★★★★ Meagan Navarro, Bloody Disgusting

"Its total lack of filter is its greatest strength. It’s the sort of film you instinctively want to tuck under a mattress: hot, nasty and mouth-wateringly disreputable, this is cinema with nothing to lose." Robbie Collins, Daily Telegraph

ACCESSIBILITY
This film will be presented with Descriptive Subtitles. Please read on for more information.

Hull Independent Cinema is working towards creating more accessibility for our audiences. HIC have decided to present all our films with descriptive subtitles, where available.

Descriptive subtitles refer to subtitles intended for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. They are also known as HOH (Hard of Hearing) subtitles or SDH (Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing). These subtitles are a transcription rather than a just translation; in addition to reproducing dialogue, they aim to describe additional non-dialogue sounds available to a hearing audience, e.g. “(sighs)” or “(door creaks)” and song lyrics. In our experience, guests do not find the subtitles distracting, especially as the majority of our films are subtitled foreign language films.

Flashing Images
This film may contain sequences featuring flashing lights. Where possible, we will update the listing to confirm this closer to the screening date. For more information, please see the film's page on the BBFC website
