Jarred Christmas & guests
Mountsorrel Memorial Centre, Loughborough.
This event is for over 18s only - No refunds will be issued for under 18s.
Following on from the success of their previous visit to Mountsorrel, The CrazyBird Comedy Club is returning to the Mountsorrel Memorial Centre with the internationally acclaimed and TV favourite Jared Christmas headlining a stunning line up of professional stand-up comedians from the international circuit on Saturday 20th October.
It is a pleasure to welcome the inimitable Geoff Whiting who will be your MC for the evening. Geoff will draw on his 20 years’ experience in the industry to ensure the night gets off to a flyer and will ensure that both audience and acts alike are enjoying themselves.
The opening act is the supremely talented Pierre Hollins whose only other ‘proper jobs’ he’s ever had were washing dishes in the House of Commons, labouring on a gas pipe line in Qatar, in the Middle East, and teaching drama to the mentally ill. So it’s fair to say he’s got material!!
He has been an audience favourite on the comedy circuit for many years, and has headlined at clubs throughout the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. In the early days he worked as a support act to Lenny Henry and Rory Bremner; appeared in the West End with Rita Rudner; and toured with The Flying Pickets, and Willie Rushton & Barry Cryer.
He has completely re-invented his act several times (from the early days of acrobatic spectacle and frivolous audience abuse - where he was described as ‘farfetched and semi dangerous’ Time Out). In a more recent incarnation he was found wielding an electric squash racket - ‘must be seen to be believed’ Chortle; ‘comedy rock and roll heaven’ Hot Tickets.
Entertaining you through the middle section is Alex Kealy whose recent Edinburgh Fringe review described him as "Ferociously quick-witted...flawless script". Alex is a Smart 20-something comedian with mix of self-deprecation, satire and observational comedy. Joining Alex in the middle section is the ever impressive Radu Issac "simultaneously sweet and dark", "cynical and tricksy". Romanian , professional Stand-Up comedian Radu, has successfully made the transition into English speaking comedy. Known in Romania as a comedian’s comedian, in 2015 he decided to move to London and, in his own words, became just an unemployed person with a hobby. His style of political/surreal/observational comedy is refreshingly unique. In 2016, prior to winning through to the final of Amused Moose Laugh Off, Radu won The King Gong at The Comedy Store London, The New Act Night at The Comedy Cafe and The Blackout at Up The Creek Comedy Club.
Headlining this stunning line up is the unbelievable Jarred Christmas “One of the funniest men to pick up a microphone” – Time Out. Jarred has a unique style that deftly mixes gags with storytelling. He has a dynamic onstage persona and the ability to improvise and roll with anything that's thrown his way, making his comedy sizzle with originality.
His energetic storytelling has earned him a whole host of accolades including a Chortle Award and has catapulted him to the forefront of our TV screens in shows such as Mock The Week (BBC2), Never Mind the Buzzcocks (BBC2) 8 out of 10 Cats, (Channel 4), Russel Howards Good News (BBC2),Argumental (Dave), One Night Stand (Dave) and Let’s Dance for Comic Relief (BBC 1). His radio credits include Act Your Age (BBC Radio 4), and Flight of the Conchords (BBC Radio 2).
