In 2022 we go again with renewed optimism for the fifth edition of Junction 2. The obstacles of 2020 have only made our hunger grow stronger, as has our commitment to delivering what we had meticulously planned this year, plus much more...
Firstly, we're moving all of the original line-up into 2022 and then throwing in some additions for good measure. That means on Friday 3rd June 2022, you can catch Jon Hopkins' dazzling live show, the mighty Four Tet, Siberian rave icon Nina Kraviz, power couple Octo Octa and Eris Drew play B2B, crowd favourite DJ Koze, the Hessel Audio trifecta and the fiery Honey Dijon. In addition to many other incredible artists we also welcome Rinse FM hostess Jossy Mitsu, Paris-based groovester Bambounou and former Phonox resident Esa.
Saturday 4th June 2022 sees standout sets from Berlin staples Ben Klock & Marcel Dettmann, Detroit dons Robert Hood and Seth Troxler, high pressure selector Amelie Lens, Ellum label chief Maceo Plex and our Drumcode talisman Adam Beyer. We're also delighted to showcase experimental artist Deena Abdulwaheed, Half Baked Records star Sam Bangura and SlapFunk's Samuel Deep. Of course, not forgetting weekend resident, Avalon Emerson, who'll be appearing twice across the weekend, playing a solo set on Friday and a B2B2B with Roi Perez and Dr. Rubinstein on the Saturday.
Furthermore, following the success of the virtual edition of Speaker's Corner, presented as a second day of programming for our debut digital festival, J2v, we will be creating a real life Speaker's Corner at Junction 2 in 2022. In a similar vein to the three panel discussions showcased during J2v, which included contributions from Carl Craig, Seth Troxler, Sama Abdulhadi, DJ Holographic, Derrick Carter and more, this will be a space dedicated to the exploration of the culture of electronic music past, present and future, via in-depth discussions with the scene's major players and the artists appearing at the festival. Crucially, Speaker's Corner also provides a place to introduce grassroots talent and forge links with local arts and music collectives.
2020 has been a year of learning and development. 2022 promises to be the year we have all been waiting for.
