Formed in 2016 Mono Club are the musical collaboration between members of Goldheart Assembly and Lyla Foy. Mono Club's blend of 1960s psych, 90s slacker indie and modern alt pop draws influence from The Go-Betweens, Yo La Tengo, NEU!, The Zombies and Tame Impala and has so far enjoyed a host of support from BBC Radio 2, BBC 6Music, Radio X and Huffington Post.
Following the disbanding of the critically acclaimed Goldheart Assembly, singer-songwriter John Herbert retreated away to write material for a new project, Mono Club. Calling upon past members of Goldheart Assembly and guitarist/producer Dan Bell, Mono Club entered the studio with Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers) to record what would become their debut album.
Their first single 'Sky High and Submarine' was greeted favourably upon its release and was playlisted on 6 Music, receiving support from Steve Lamacq.
A second single,'Memory Critical' followed in 2017 and once again found a home on 6Music.
Third single 'Place Called Home' was co-written with the newly recruited Lyla Foy (Sub Pop). Writing of the song upon its release Huffington Post noted ‘it begins with gently surfacing synths escalating to a bright radiance that flows into a buoyant jangle pop melody flavored with hints of psyche’
Mono Club’s debut album 'Sky High and Submarine' was released on 23rd March 2018. The accompanying radio single 'Best Laid Plans' was described by Clash as "a retro-futurist fusion with a killer chorus".
