A rare London visit for the Paris-based cult singer Sandra Nkake.

Growing up in both Yaoundé (Cameroun) and Paris, singer-songwriter Sandra Nkaké was used to moving between two cultures and two climates. Her studies at the Sorbonne in Paris – first to become a journalist and then an English teacher – did not prevent her from living a double life as a singer and an actress in pieces that blended theatre and music. She began to make a name for herself in the Paris music scene of the noughties, working with artists from many different backgrounds: Jacques Higelin, Daniel Yvinec and the National Jazz Orchestra, Julien Lourau, Nana Vasconcelos, Ji Mob and her own group project, Push Up.

Recently she won rave reviews for London appearances in Georgia Mancio’s ReVoice festival at the Pizza Express and in the London Jazz Festival show ‘Strayhorn The Songwriter’ at the Cadogan Hall. Her most recent album, ‘Tangerine Moon Wishes’, was released in 2017.
