A new comedy night upstairs at the Cumberland Arms.
Professional comedians trying out new material to a hopefully lovely audience.
Our debut show features the wonderful JOHN SCOTT headlining. When it comes to the comedy circuit, John's about as much as a hardened veteran as you can get - having perfected his razor-sharp observations about life, mental health and topical news for two decades. On top of regularly performing to sell-out crowds across the country, John also hosts his own monthly political comedy panel show at The Stand. Come see John Scott trying some new stuff out and witness what The List described as "confidently told hilarious tales" and The Herald calls "political comedy from the grassroots up".
Opening act for the night is silly LEE KYLE. Lee's one of the best acts going in the North East, some would say the best unsigned comedian in the UK, but he's not just a top comedian; he is also a great MC, children's entertainer, book author, football pundit, podcast host, flag expert, ex-professional wrestler and also cult leader. He likes to be stupid and whatever the opposite of satire is, that is what he’s going to do. ‘A brilliant performance, pure genius!' - NARC Magazine.
And hosting falls to two-time BGT star impressionist Cal Halbert. One half of the duo The Mimic Men, Cal Halbert is a natural host and entertainer, boasting "Uncanny imitations" (The Sun) and rave reviews from the likes of Michael McIntyre, David Walliams and Simon Cowell.
Supporting acts include Nick Cranston ("Nick is good" - Leicester Mercury) and Louise Young (Funny Women Finalist 2017/Frog & Bucket W. Series Finalist 2018).
