The Face originated from Hornchurch in East London and were part of the 1979 Mod revival. They played the London gig circuit from August 1979 when they made their debut supporting Paul Jones and The Blues Band, through to February 1980 when they played their final gig of that era headlining at Ilford Town hall.

Their music resembles the 60s beat genre, but with a definite 70s new wave influence to give it a hard edge and high energy.

During their  7 months on the 1979 scene, The Face played alongside Mod legends, The Small Hours at a number of their London gigs, The Purple Hearts, Squire and The Little Roosters at iconic  venues such as The Bridge House, Canning Town,  Moonlight Club, The Windsor Castle,  Music Machine, Acklam Hall and Hastings Pier Ballroom.

As 1979 moved into 1980 the band got their own headline slots at The Bridge House and other venues and signed a record deal with RSR Entertainment (Roland Rennie, who launched The Beatles in the U.S). However, the London Mod scene was starting to give way to New Romantics and the planned single was never released.

The Face reformed for Mods Mayday Cambridge in 2014 and have played selective gigs since including supporting From the Jam and  Secret Affair at The Junction.
