This Winter Machine were formed in mid-2016 when lead vocalist Al advertised for a musicians to form a new progressive rock band.

After a few rehearsals it was clear that something very special was occurring.

Each member had different influences but all had a love and appreciation for classic, and modern, progressive rock music.

They quickly started to write their own material and within a couple of months were in the studio recording their debut album ‘The Man Who Never Was’ which was initially released in January 2017 to universal acclaim.

Line-up changes saw the band bring in two new guitarists making the band a six-piece, and a new drummer. The new members marked their arrival on both live sound and new songs, expanding the array of textures and rhythms on display. During this period of change, the band also signed a contract with f2 records and the album was re-launched.

To date, This Winter Machine have sold albums and merchandise all around the world, from Holland to America, Russia to Japan! They have appeared in many ‘top ten bands to watch’ lists. They have tracks including on the cover CDs for publications such as Prog Magazine and classic rock Society Magazine.

The band performed alongside Mostly Autumn at the Classic Rock Society Awards held in March 2018. This Winter Machine were nominated for four awards in total, including Best Song and Best Album, and they took home the award for Best Newcomers of 2017.

The Debut album currently also sits in many journalists and bloggers Best of 2017 lists, often in numbers 1 slot.

They are currently writing the second album which is titled ‘A Tower of Clocks’ and is slated for a 2018 release.
